GO! only if you are searching for great authentic Japanese cuisine

So by now, you seen it on TV (Foodnetwork) about this place. Or you have seen it on local magazines of where the best place to eat. Kihachi has great Japanese food. One of the greatest Japanese food is just in my backyard. I've tasted many Japanese food across United States. Unfortunately, the... read more

For those who appreciate - and can recognize - true mastery, Kihachi is not only the best restaurant in Columbus, but arguably among the best in the world. Master chef, Michael, was wooed to Columbus by Honda executives, for whom he is entrusted the responsibility of providing the best tastes of home. For the truly adventurous, I recommend reserving seating... More

We ordered omakaze to celebrate a special occasion. We sat at the bar so we could watch food preparation. Even so, there was zero interraction with Chef Kimura....he visited with a couple at the other end of the bar but no conversation with us. The food is lovely. I spent three weeks in Japan and often had similar preparations. You... More

Kihachi is by far the best restaurant in Columbus. Having eaten practically everywhere globally I feel Kihachi ranks with most of the best. If only it were in the Short North or Grandview it would be Columbus' first Michelin starred restaurant. If only it weren't in a small strip mall in NW Cbus, next to a cigar shop, of which... More

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus as we love Japanese food and Chef Kimura is so talented and has amazing attention to detail. We have eaten at Kihachi many times and eaten a la carte and omakase. Chef Kimura flies ingredients in from Japan and Hawaii and will only serve things in season and when he can... More

Went with son and daughter-in-law. Sat at the Sushi bar for an incredible evening of preparation entertainment s well as incredible food. Not only watching the prep but totally enjoying the food. The atmosphere is quite Japanese with a touch of being American. The multiple courses melded together in a very cohesive way to slowly walk you through a dining... More

I have eaten here numerous times and my most recent visit did not disappoint. Take advantage of as many seasonal specials as possible, and keep an open mind...the food is outstanding! Reserve in advance if you want the private dining tatami tables...they really help make the experience all the more Japanese.

Of the six diners, three were thrilled with this eating experience. Please know that 1) this is very authentic food - not what we have been used to at Japanese restaurants in the past 2) when there are more than 5 people, a 20% gratuity is added 3) there are only a few American style tables/chairs in this very small... I recently dined at Kihachi with two of my Japanese business friends. Having eaten Japanese food for over 25 years, I have to say that this was some of the best I have ever eaten. My friends agreed. We had a nice relaxed dinner, with numerous appetizers. Everything was simply delicious, beautifully presented, and extremely fresh. I loved the fried... More

We have been here three times. All visits have been wonderful. The food is delicious and the presentation is astounding. Try to sit at the counter and watch the chefs prepare the food. It is remarkable craftsmanship. We enjoy the duck soba, fried lotus root, pressed mackerel and sea bream, and other daily specials. Mochi desserts are also a must.... More
