I enjoyed my visit the Schmidts, it's not the the best German food I have ever had, but the energy and atmosphere is top notch. The portions are huge, so go with a group and share, the cream puff dessert can feed a family of four, worth the calories, even for a non cream puff eater. Super cute neighborhood experience.

My only complaint is that it's always busy and parking isn't great. Plan on waiting an hour as they do not take reservations. It's a great family owned and operated restaurant in German Village. I have many great family memories of dinner or lunch at Schmidts. Plenty of German foods and beers to choose from. They typically have live entertainment... More

Yes, I'm part German. Yes, I love sauerkraut and sausages. YES, Schmidt's is THE place in Columbus, if not all of Ohio, to get GREAT German food! If you love spicy,be sure to get the Bahama Mama sausage! The sauerbraten is delicious and side dishes authentic. Beer is cold and atmosphere fun! Just be sure to save room for one... More

The food is ok but the wait and noise is really high. But to be completely honest- I've eaten authentic German and Austrian food when I visited those countries and this does not come close. This is a sausage haus primarily (yes they have more but they are known for their sausage) and the food reflects the American influence.

first off they do not take reservations. We are always in town for work at a show. We can not do weekends there as you would not get in after 7pm.If you can get in or on weekday the buffet was terrific. Also some of our folks had the meals off the menu and raved about their meals. Don't forget... More

fun experience and worth the wait! When you arrive and the front area is packed with people, do not fret, you will be seated within 20 minutes, usually! The buffet is yummy and has so many sausages, salads to choose from. Beers are cold and complement the Bahamas mama heat! Save room for dessert, or make sure to take some... More

Went to Schmidt's last weekend. It was crowded but we were seated within 20 minutes. The food is wonderful. I had the Cabbage Rolls and they were fantastic. They have a Buffett that is extremely reasonable, as is the whole menu. If you go you have to try the giant cream puffs. These are filled with a pudding like filling,not... More

Schmidt's is worth a long drive for their great draft beer, schnitzel and a sausage, finished by a fabulous cream puff! Charming and delicious place with live polka on a cobblestone street. Absolutely great every time!

Tasty German Restaurant in German Village area. Good beers. Ate from buffet at family event. Variety of food to meet all taste buds. Location was originally livery stable. Parking can be tricky

After the 1 1/2 hour wait, I think my expectations grew with my hunger. The sausage buffet was good with what it offered. The servers had issues keeping it stocked which was disappointing. Other items on the menu were a bit overpriced. Because it was crowded, the service was subpar. It took us 25 minutes just to order. The only... More
