Went before a show; no problems with reservations or timeliness of service, in fact everything was quite fast. Food was very tasty, portions were not very adequate for a hearty eater but that was expected. My only real complaint was the seating arrangement. We were seated to the left of the entrance at a small table for two. My wife... More

Had a lovely meal here before going to Playhouse Square, great location for that, just a few feet away. Very friendly staff, food was excellent. We had the canneloni (the best of the meals) it is a vegetarian pasta dish. Very well done. Also the a braised beef which was also good. Most people seemed to be having the burgers.... More

We had a very special dinner here during a Cleveland conference visit. Great Martinies. Shrimp bisque to die for. Really a meal! Cod with squash that tasted like sea bass. Chocolate cheesecake with Carmel .. Yummy. Very spare grey decor. Near the Cleveland theaters.

I ate here with a large business group and it was very good. Between our group we tried nearly everything on the menu and it was very good. We didn't have quite enough waitstaff for our size group but that was only a small inconvenience. The food was good and there was great variety on the menu

Growing up in Cleveland I well remember the elegant Cowell and Hubbard jewelry store. Now Mr. Bruell has turned that space into a restaurant worthy of it's namesake. Escargot -tender and tasty. Try the salad of frisee and pork croquette...the flavors meld into a lush medley of crisp, tender, salty, spicy delight. Roasted cod with butternut squash puree? Rich and... More

My collaborator and I were in a rush for the theatre. Arrived a bit late for our reservation. We were sat immediately and very nicely by the hostess. Our waiter was almost too polite -- and took our drink orders immediately. The ambience is busy but decor modern and the restaurant has good flow to it. Wine was great. Our... More

.... I was told after possibly one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I've had in Cleveland. My husband and I had pre-theatre dinner reservations, so when we arrived, the place was (obviously) very busy. We were sat at this postage-sized table smack in the middle of the main aisle, a very high traffic area; when we inquired of possibly... More

Cowell & Hubbard is a very nice restaurant right in the heart of Playhouse Square.... The ambiance is upscale. I made a reservation for a Friday night at 7:30, and it was pretty empty. The menu has a variety of seafood and chicken dishes as well as pastas and vegan meals. I started with a bowl of the cream of... More

Recently I went to the Playhouse Square for a play and we decided to try this restaurant out. The staff working were all very accommodating, helpful & knowledgeable with the menu. Everyone loved their meals! I must say myself, the calamari salad as an appetizer was over the top delicious. I had chicken with polenta, it was the first restaurant... More

My guy won a gift of dinner for 4 people. We were here 12/11/2013. Everything we ate was delicious. It is an expensive restaurant with small and tasty dishes.
