We visited Cowell and Hubbard before going to the theater because of its location. We were served promptly and the service was excellent. We both enjoyed our choice of the Mediterranean salad and pumpkin crusted trout with spaghetti squash, kale and tomato-cilantro lime butter. Unfortunately, a table of six were seated too close to us. With their discussion and the... More

I didn't care for the food. I'm not sure if it's the restaurant itself, or that I just don't like French food.

Last night we Visited Cowell and Hubbard before a show and had a fabulous meal. As a child, I remember C& H as a very upscale jewelry store. It has been transformed into a very upscale restaurant, elegant and chic, but not overly expensive. We enjoyed the "fantastic" goat cheese ravioli (which I would go back for any day,) as... More

This was our first time at Cowell and Hubbard. We had great window seats and wonderful service. Our drinks came right away and our server offered us excellent service. What surprised us was the food. It was just mediocre. We hesitate to return!

Great food & service in a chic atmosphere located a mere few steps from Play House Square. The menu is unique! Service is top notch!

Our first impression was that of our waiter apologizing to the couple at the table next to us. If we had a dollar for every time we heard him apologize to us throughout the dinner, the meal would have been free. The food was OK, but the chef clearly like salt, sometimes way too much! It wasn't all bad. When... More

Just went to Cowell & Hubbard for first time. Why did we wait? Will never go any place else when going downtown for theatre. Had seafood dumplings, pea soup, escargot, duck confit, meringue with salted caramel ice cream. All delicious and uniquely prepared--i.e., not your usual escargot. Waiter Joseph had all the detailed explanations of the dishes and good recommendations.... More

Went here for dinner before a show. Convenient location, efficient reservation process - used to dealing with pre-show diners so service timing good. This was our 3rd time at this restaurant and it was very disappointing. Servers were efficient but brusque. There was an army of different servers - one for water, another for bread, another for 1st course, another... More

This is a big restaurant. Food was great had salmon. waiter advice on medium raw term. It was great. dessert was amazing. Service was very good for such a huge crowd. Food came out rather quickly even with a full house. Portions are typical of frensh cousine. For French purist it might be a questionable choice but that aside. There... More

A very nice find in Playhouse Square. Apparently the restaurant gets mobbed pre-show, but we were dining at 8:30 PM, so it wasn't very crowded. No reservation, nice corner table. Our waiter was charming and competent. We shared 4 dishes off the starter menu...First, escargot in a very nice, buttery, garlicky, wine sauce with tomatoes, potatoes, and croutons. Then mussels...
