Great food and atmosphere

For my wifes very special Birthday and with all our children arriving from various States, we decided to try The Barn at McLaren Vale. The food was outstanding as was the service. Sorry I did not obtain the waiters name, but he was excellent. I am not huge on wines, but I did think that their... read more

We found this place as it was close to where we were staying. The menu is small but varied. All the food we had was very well cooked and delicious. There is a wine room where you can choose a bottle of local (or otherwise ) to go with your meal. Service was good, eating under the vines was a... More

This is one of several good eateries/wine bar venues in SA wine growing regions and has been very popular over many years. We attended a private function here recently: the atmosphere is most pleasant, the service very good and the snacks and wines were excellent; try thy pork belly and the chips (fries to some) are special. The food menu,... More

The atmosphere was lovely and the food and service excellent. Although the restaurant is quite formal, it doesn't mean you can't wear jeans. I loved it here. Very relaxed and charming.

The first time we went it was 8.50pm. All other restaurants were closed, but the staff at The Barn were super welcoming. We had such a nice meal we returned the next night which is rare for us. The building inside is a very nice modern rustic (is that possible?) With a central courtyard covered in grape vines , and... More

Some friends and I went there some days ago for dinner, kitchen for dinner was not yet open, but they have some other starters we could order. We had beef thai salad, arancini and some fries, nothing fancy, but really tasty, well served, with an awesome cellar. The place is really big, with an inner terrace, or outside tables. Service... This is a nice place to eat. The cobb bread is gorgeous. Scallops to start were cooked perfectly;the lamb cutlets were more numerous and fattier than i would prefer. Veggies were beautifully done. Dessert let them down a bit, with the chocolate Panna cotta jellylike and not quite working with mint floss. Choosing your own bottle of wine from the... More

We came here for a family long Sunday lunch. Good service (there when you need it, and not always lurking around). Very good food, generous portion sizes (in fact could really have been a little smaller). My kangaroo was excellent, cooked just right. The starter share plates were really nice (go for the pork belly!). I was too well fed... More

Enjoyed a long lunch with a dozen friends in the covered vine courtyard. Wonderful to revisit the archetypal SA venue after many years. My kingfish was delicious but a smallish serve. Needed the side of chips. I believe the wine selection was very expensive and more reasonably priced bottles need to be available. Overall a relaxed enjoyable venue. Excellent coffee... More
