On a cold night with gas heaters going the food was served on cold plates.The steak I ordered came almost raw even though I ordered medium well...In fact the waitress said she would have to sweet talk the chef to get my request carried out!!

We are visiting our family here - and as a special lunchtime treat went to this place. The surroundings are certainly nothing special, the staff looked down their nose's , the food was sparse to say the least and dreadfully overpriced and we definitely would not go back!

A pleasant venue under shady trees in good weather. Nice varied menu for a casual lunch. Usually an art display inside, also items for sale made by local artisans.

Two afternoon visits to Red Poles were both pleasant stops during tours of McLaren Vale. The downstairs gallery has exhibitions by local artists and the upstairs gallery is worth a peek for the works on paper. There are some interesting craft works in the bar area. Had lunch at the restaurant on a sunday. Amazing atmosphere. Friendly service, exceptional food and lovely ambiance. Definitely up their with the best in Adelaide, if not one of the best foodie destinations. Imaginative, creative, unique food combinations that work. If your after something quirky and unique this is the place to be.

Found this restaurant by chance while touring McLaren Vale wineries. Lunch was excellent, fresh ingredients, imaginatively combined, well presented. The service was good, and all reasonably priced. Worth looking out for if you're in McLaren Vale.
