With Head Chef, Dioni Flanagan, at the helm, award-winning 'The Kitchen Door' offers two distinct dining experiences. Regional, seasonal and affordable underpin both formal dining in 'Gedney Room' or a casual 'Drew's Verandah' offer. Both spaces overlook the post and rail fences of the Suffolk sheep paddocks, a vista not available from any CBD eatery. 'The Kitchen Door' Restaurant was awarded the National Restaurant & Catering Awards title of "Best Restaurant in a Winery" in 2007 and again in 2013 as well as the South Australian title in 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2013.

''Don't drive''

Had the degustation menu with matching wines. Great service. Good spot with view from restaurant. Great food and wine. Left full and a bit drunk. Make sure there is a non-drinking driver in the group.

We went to The Kitchen Door for lunch and while the food tasted good, the overall experience was average. 3 of us ordered the fish fingers for entree and they were very salty, and i mean salty. The lunch menu was very limited, choice of 4 items, no steak, so 3 had the veal rib and i had the fish. My Husband and I had the most amazing food experience on the weekend at Penny's Hill Winery. We had a degustation meal (first one ever but won't be the last), which just kept getting better with each course, the food was amazing! My husband is not usually a wine drinker, but on this occasion he indulged and could not believe... More

We ordered a number of small plates to graze on rather than a full meal each... was worth doing it that way.... plenty of food came out and it all tasted very nice. Their wines are also great. Def recommend a visit.

We have been here several times, but the today's lunch was disappointing. It is quite expensive particularly for the solid stodgy food we wouldn't cook at home. Think smashed potatoes, lumps of bread and a slab of over cooked steak. It's a beautiful winery/ restaurant but ambience alone doesn't fit the bill. Pity!

We chose The Kitchen Door restaurant at Penny’s Hill Winery for a special occasion Sunday lunch for 8 people and it proved to be an inspired choice. Everything about the dining experience was exceptional. Chef Dioni’s food, presented beautifully, was fresh, interesting and above all, delectable. The service was attentive without being intrusive and maître d’ Barnaby added to the... More

We just finished a long lunch and loved it. The food, setting and wine were all amazing. But the service was exceptional. Our waiter, Barnes was personable, seriously funny and polished. All up, this is a top choice for lunch.

We rode bikes around Mclaren Bale on the coldest day for over 30 years and ended up here for lunch. What an amazing experience!! The food here is as good as we have had any where in the world. The friendly staff in the restaurant made us feel special even though we obviously arrived by bike . The view from... More

We have just visited by chance The Kitchen Door Restaurant @ Penny's Hill Winery in McLaren Vale South Australia. May we congratulate all from the chef and kitchen staff to the front of house team for the complete experience of food, wine and service. We would equal the dinning experience to the Le Jules Verne Restaurant @ Eiffel Tour. Thank... More
