Description: 'The Kitchen Door' Restaurant offers two distinct dining experiences....
'The Kitchen Door' Restaurant offers two distinct dining experiences. Regional, seasonal and affordable underpin both formal dining in 'Gedney Room' or a casual 'Drew's Verandah' offer. Both spaces overlook the post and rail fences of the Suffolk sheep paddocks, a vista not available from any CBD eatery.

'The Kitchen Door' Restaurant was awarded the National Restaurant & Catering Awards title of "Best Restaurant in a Winery" in 2007 and again in 2013 as well as the South Australian title in 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2013.

Amazing food and lovely staff , with a great view.

We had a lovely long lunch with good friends and great service. The waiter suggested that the bread was an exciting choice - and it was. It was tasty and warm with accompanied flavoured butters, and although expensive, the olives were delicious. The entrees of torched tuna, and, zucchini fritters were good choices and prepared to perfection. The main meal... More

Michele, Hi My thanks for your comments - They are all very useful indeed. Our chefs are so keen to celebrate Fleurieu produce that when radishes taste that good, they use them a lot. Our menu changes daily, so there might occasionally be a duplication - my apologies, it's our enthusiastic response to the basket of produce that the region... More

Lovely food, choose from the cellar door's diverse selection of wines, spectacular view in the main dining room and thoughtful service. Highly recommend.

Jos, Hi Delighted to hear your feedback - Our staff do try hard to reflect the changing seasons and changing flavours, and I'm very happy to see it appreciated. Do call back in and see us. That view is ever so special, and we now have our Suffolk Sheep back from a brief holiday, making it ever more special. Max More

Have been to the kitchen door once before and had a great experience even in a large group. This time however there was four of us and an 18 month old. I advised when booking about the child and a reservation was best on the verandah as he would be up and about. Arrived at 1.30 (thought lunch service would... More

Cathy, Hi I'm very sorry to hear that your experiences with us went from a 5* to a 2*, particularly when so many reviews are headed in the other direction - And reading your comments, I see exactly why. I can only apologise and ensure it doesn't happen again. I'm particularly sad when we pride ourselves on both our child... More

$8 for a small bowl of olives $8 for 2 slices of bread and butter and $10 for a bottle of sparkling water. Safe to say we didn't bother staying and eating the $38 main meals. Lovely place to taste the wines, but wouldn't recommend dining there unless you aren't overly hungry and have a lot of spare cash.

Very sorry to read that you disapprove of our prices, we have a Deli in the grounds where you can get a Deli Platter of freshly made salads, local breads, cold meats, olives and pickles along with an assortment of other local produce for $25. So whether you want to have a luxurious lunch of superb local produce, or a... More

Second visit to Penny's Hill and was a bit disappointed at our visit. Firstly our order was taken wrong for the entree, we were given an entree that we didn't order. However we didn't tell the waiter since we were hungry by then couldn't be bothered changing it. Our bill was calculated wrong at end of the meal, it seemed... More

We stopped by for lunch on the Monday before Christmas. Lovely to think that there are great restaurants which are open on Mondays! We thoroughly enjoyed the meal - the generous helpings were beautifully plated and the attentive staff not to mention the thoroughly gorgeous wines made this such an enjoyable meal. Thank you also to the thoroughly professional restaurant... More

Lovely surroundings. Wines ok. We did not eat here although the food looks pretty good. Probably Keep this on the list of cellars to visit, but I wouldn't rush back.
