This restaurant was recommended in a Mercedes Benz article and it was a great place to enjoy lunch while touring the McClaren Vale area. The food is unusual but tasty and the house red was nice. We only shared a vegetarian appetiser as we had just come from the fabulous food markets at nearby Wirlunga. The venue is warm and... More

Had a quick lunch in the more casual part of the restaurant on a visit to McLaren Vale wineries. Lovely setting overlooking vines, sheep and new spring lambs. Lovely platter of mushrooms and sliders with a glass of the house wine. Good prices for a light lunch. Forgot my wine but eventually brought with apologies. Didn't charge me for it.... More

The setting is lovely and the wines are definitely worth trying but... the savoury dishes and main meal in our degustation lunch were very ordinary. Haggis croquettes with parsnip mash and wasabi aioli sounds exciting but was actually dull, the pate was bland and the roast pork and veg were only luke warm and chewy. The between meal taste tempters... More

Thankyou Sarah G for the amazing down to earth nature of your service. We were here for a degustation and enjoyed every single minute of our service, every meal and every wine. Not one complaint. Every expectation was met and our visit has made our weekend. Thankyou Thankyou.

Good food, nice wines, obsequious waiter. 5% surcharge for paying with AMEX. Unforgivable in this day and age.

Another lovely afternoon at Penny's Hill. The new menu was great, I really enjoyed my main of Elk with a chocolate & Guinness sauce with cauliflower & white bean purée, thank you Neil & Chris. The Grenache was a great choice & many thanks to Barnaby for all the laughs & the great service. Will definitely be back!

Rather unexpectedly we found ourselves eating out at lunchtime and Penny's Hill was a great venue. Delicious food - and the wonderful discovery of a Riesling from their vineyards in Clare Valley. Definitely to be recommended (and there is a discount on cellar door purchases for diners-in!)

Food was great and the service was excellent! Good spacing between course so that we could enjoy the meal, company and the surroundings. Staff was very knowlegeable and on point. Highly advised to go and try for yourself but make a booking it can get busy from what I saw when there.

A group of us went to the restaurant with a booking, waited for the food for about 2.5 hrs only to be served with poor quality food.the fish was raw and the pork was raw.The waitress told us that the fish can be eaten raw and also the pork.Definately will never return to a place where the food and service is...
