The wine list here is, for north Queensland, pretty decent, although concomitantly pricey. The pizzas were well done, as were the sharing plates. Sitting on the deck was not the best view in Mission Beach (a suburban road running past the village green), but it was the restaurant closest to the beach in this part of town.

Looking around Mission Beach, the Sandbar had the best position with side views to the sea and was also the classiest looking whilst remaining casual. We ate here on two occasions. I found the service friendly and competent particularly compared to other restaurants in the area. The food, a predominantly tapas and pizza menu, was tasty enough without being outstanding.... More

We had dinner this evening. It was beautiful. We shared tapas for entree. The pork belly was my favourite of the three dishes. The duck pizza was delicious and the service was spot on. Only thing is if you don't like chillies- the menu didn't necessarily mention this ingredient on each item. Great meal.

After reading the reviews on this restaurant, we were disappointed with the overall experience. The service seemed inexperienced and disinterested. The tappas were overpriced for what you go (very little) and the pizzas were over rated. A shame because we had been looking forward to this visit. We would not bother returning here.

Dropped in for dinner, asked for a table for 20, he asked the chef then came and told us it would be a 30 minute wait but he would set us up. We were quite happy to wait but then the male staff member told us that he "couldn't accommodate us" turned his back on us and walked away. We... More

As owner of Sandbar I am sorry that we could not accommodate you and your party of 20. As a small restaurant that prides itself on the quality of our food, you must appreciate how hard it is to accommodate a walk in group of 20 guests. We simply could not seat another 20 people. It would have meant moving... More
