Walking on the beautiful beach and came across cafe, stopped for cold drink and cake. Good so went back for lunch and had a great breakfast on our way to ferry next morning. Guy was very pleasant.

Found this place in the Lonely Planet "Australia" travel guide. We were heading back from ziplining to catch a Daintree River Cruise and this is in Thornton Beach which worked out perfectly. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Our girls played on the beach until the food was ready. I had the salt and pepper calamari, my husband had... More

We've read the bad reviews and have to disagree as far as our experience is concerned. We stopped off for breakfast and it couldn't have been better. Great location and the service was good, friendly and efficient. Coffee was excellent. Staff (backpackers) very efficient and obliging, but that may change week to week. Worth the visit.

Location was amazing. Food disgusting. Fish frozen and inedible - deep fried to an inch of its life or was that beyond its life. In this amazing location with fresh fish in abundance - do not understand why fish was frozen from a packet. If we had known about Whet Restaurant would have stopped there. Do not recommend this café... More

I cannot speak more highly of this place. I coffee is good , the food is good, the setting is heaven and , to top it all off the staff are wonderful. I accidently left my wallet there and didn't realise until I got back to Cairns . They found it and helped me get it sent down and delivered... More

The guy serving at the counter is the OWNER ! Terrible customer service, bad attitude, treated us like we were a nuisance. Next time we will drive straight past.

Same as the other reviewers. The ladies in the kitchen were very friendly the guy at the counter taking the orders clearly didn't want to be there. The food okay. The milkshake came in the old style metal cups - just only half full (for the price not reasonable). My husband's and my food was okay. Unfortunately they absolutely coated... More

It's not often I will leave a "Terrible" review but this place takes the mouldy cake. The arrogant incredibly unfriendly guy behind the counter DOES NOT deserve to have a job. I am sure that most people in the world would be more grateful to have a job then this guy! The lady cook however, that brought out our food... More

Food good, not bad value for money. Man who served us not interested in customer service. Cafe toilets are disgusting portaloos. Patron smoking in restaurant area with no regard for those eating. Would have gone to the Whet Bar if we'd found it first.

Believe it is now called Thornton Bay Cafe but the service doesn't seem any better than your other reviews. We needed a quick lunch and this spot seemed quite magical. The site looked like a tropical island so what could be a better spot for a break - unfortunately I didn't check Trip Advisor before we stopped. With Lynn's allergies,... More
