A modern European restaurant and bar with a German influence. Come and see us for great food, German beer on tap, relax by the fireplace or enjoy the beer garden. We also feature a great wine and cocktail list, along with a unique, German beer on tap: Radeberger. You won’t find it anywhere else in Australia on tap. Additionally, look for our selection of German schnapps, making Wunderbar one of the very few places in the region to offer this classic European specialty. Come for a finely crafted cocktail and stay for a hearty sampling of Wunderbar’s specialty foods.

More than excellent!!

Simply go if you have the opportunity, this place is a MUST. We couldn't be in a better place to have lunch around Mornington Peninsula. The food is amazing and tasty, no words.

A small German themed restaurant in Rye, this establishment is a cozy retreat for a hearty meal. The potato and sauerkraut rosti was a nice starter and the lamb main course was cooked perfectly. Wine is available by the glass, carafe or bottle. Service was friendly and the staff took a nice photo of us all at the table.

My husband and I had dinner here midweek and the restaurant was reasonably quiet. The decor is very eastern European and sets the scene as soon as you walk in. Small table settings, large table with benches, couch in front of the fire. Service was fantastic, very friendly, quick and helpful with menu and drink suggestions. We shared 3 entrees... More

We lunched at Wunderbar and sat in the rear courtyard to the sound of the aircon unit next door starting and stopping. We could have moved inside but it was a lovely day and... we stayed put. The selection of German and Central European foods was refreshingly different form the normal fare so between the five of us we went... More

My and my partner went here a few nights ago and absolutely loved it! I had the pork schnitzel and my partner had a med-rare steak and both dishes were cooked and served perfectly. The portions were also generous. There was a bit of a wait to get our dishes, but it was well worth the wait as we were... More

Offering something different with its German influence inspired food it's a nice change from the usual restaurants in Rye. Be courageous and give it a try!

Absolutely loved this place. Very relaxing, great food, fabulous service. Would definately have again the crumbed camembert and the magnificent chocolate dessert.

On an unseaonally cold evening for mid summer in Rye, just South of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula, where do you go to get comfortable? What a joy to find WUNDERBAR a 'European' restaurant serving tasty and inventive dishes in a very cosy environement. Imported beers to start with and the wine list was great too, not restricted to domestic... More

Stopped for a coffee in the afternoon and had a nice chat to the owner. He was very friendly and his German wife was the chef. We booked for that night. On arrival the Irish waiter showed us to our table. There was a beer garden out the back. We started with a very refreshing Budvar beer and decided to... More
