My partner and I have been here a few times (in 2014) and each time the food has been absolutely faultless. One of the best Indian meals I've had. I'm therefore surprised to read some of the reviews here (maybe theyre old/from a previous restaurant setup etc?). I've order starter, mains, sides and desert and have been happy with everything... Shame as this used to be our favourite Indian restaurant as the food quality was second to none , on our last visit the chicken and lamb were so dry and tough that it was inedible .

Indian Restaurants in East Grinstead have dreadful hygiene ratings. Nizam has a rating of Two which is the highest. We cannot understand why the other Indian restaurants are allowed to stay open when they have Zero ratings ? We eat at Nizam as the food is good the staff are friendly and the service is great. We have no other... More

In East Grinstead the High Street contains one of the longest continuous runs of 14th-century timber-framed buildings in England, one of these buildings houses what is, for me, one of the finest Indian restaurants i have ever been to. I don't know whether it is the unique combination of such an historic building, coupled with superb cooking, or the friendly... More

I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and it has unfortunately gone downhill. We have received wrong orders twice out of three visits over the last year and the staff are not very welcoming and friendly. Hopefully it will get better as this used to be a great local restaurant.

Lovely restaurant, attentive staff, Paneer some of the best I've had (I'm very fussy), would like to see Paneer Sashlick or Chilli Paneer on menu also. A most enjoyable evening we will revisit.

Deceptively large from the outside. Good food . Seemed to have over extended on the Saturday evening we attended e.g. service charge was compromised as we has to ‘chase’ drinks twice (ordered on entry) and starters . The latter arrived 45mins after arrival. So should have been a better experience .

A friend and I were out in East Grinstead on Monday night and fancied an Indian Meal, how I wished we had read the real posts on here (from actual customers, not the owners or their friends) beforehand, as frankly it was awful and exceptionally poor value for money. We arrived about 10.15 and were welcomed in. The place looked... More

I am sorry that you were disappointed with your recent experience at Nizam Restaurant, but I can't recognise this restaurant from your comments: we don't have any patty starters on the menu for £6.96 as you have stated. Your general comments about the vegetarian curry "come out of a tin", all vegetables used at Nizam's kitchen are fresh produce our... More

Thank you for reviewing your recent visit to Nizam Restaurant East Grinstead. I was delighted to read you have been visiting the restaurant for 25 years, however it is unfortunate on this occasion that we did not meet the high levels of service and standards that we set ourselves. Please be aware that all chicken used at Nizam's kitchen is... More

Nizam has been in East Grinstead since the 80s so it's very well known to the locals. Having heard so much about this restaurant I thought we give it a try. The weekends are generally busy for all restaurants good or bad as it's the peak two evenings most of us dine out with friends and family. Nizam was a... More
