Excellent Meal with good service

We have used The Bull on numerous occasions while my daughter lived in Towcester and even though she has moved to Northampton we still find this a solid place to meet as a family (me 80 miles!). The food is always of a high standard, cooked on the premises, the garden is lovely and the staff... read more

A nice evening out with friends was not to be. The average food was "outshone" by the memory of the very poor service we received. No menus provided, rude waiter service, glasses placed on very sticky table with a bang capped with response of "Chef gone home " reply when the pudding menu were requested by us at about 9.30... We were travelling from Bristol to Bedford. Coming off the M40 onto the A43 at gone 8pm, we were quite hungry and were heading for one of our usual haunts in this part of the World, the Green Man. We arrived to find it closed for refurbishment, help! So we carried on but couldn't see anywhere until close to Towcester,... More

Still laughing, which is just as well, given how terrible it was! We should have guessed when we were greeted with a leering "evening ladies!", by the unkempt bloke hanging off the bar. Ever the optimists, we chose a table to sit at from the many available. Slightly surprised that the glasses survived the slamming onto the table......the response of... More

This restaurant was recommended by the receptionist at the local Travelodge and we were not disappointed. I had perhaps the best gammon steak I've ever eaten in a restaurant.. Nice atmosphere too!

Hard to rate, as food very good, but a little pricey (vegetables very over priced, small finger bowl size £3.50!). The service was odd; didn't get given a menu when arrived (had booked), wasn't asked what drinks we wanted, no bar on restaurant side to ask for one, had to ask for both, when managed to catch waiter/manager going by.

My husband were staying nearby in a hotel for the night and wasn't impressed with the evening menu at the hotel. We looked online and found the Bull in Towcester and Iiked the menu. We booked a table for that evening. The bar wasn't great but that didn't put us off as we were there for the food. We had... More

3 generation family lunch for 7 on a Saturday. Booking straightforward. Welcome very warm and pleasant. Service efficient and cheerful. Clean and tidy decor (the girls particularly liked the art work in the ladies!)with good atmosphere. Food excellent, everyone enjoyed the meal that they chose. Would happily return.

Visited last Saturday evening. Thought would be met with usual hostility of booking an Amazon deal (been my experience with lots of places in Northampton when booking via Groupon or Amazon) but was pleasantly surprised. Service quick & friendly & food fab. Both of us had steak which was cooked superbly to our taste. Think the owner was surprised we... More
