Evening Beer

Dave behind the bar was one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet. No flat beer in here for the northern contingent like myself, sprinklers and good head on your pint. Real ale terrific. Thanks Dave

New landlord has helped refresh the bar with good ales and a warm welcome. No problem being served a good pint busy or quiet. Locals are a good mix of characters. Not coming from Towcester, I find the Plough to be the best in town.

Can't fault it. Since Ed took over we've had spot on beer , service and food. Wonderful coffee mugs on sale!

Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad that you enjoy your time at The Plough and that you continue to use us, the mugs do look great, and are one of the small ways in which we are able to stand out from some of our local competition! More

the current patronage of this establishment resemble the cast of the living dead crossed with the clientele of the slaughtered lamb ! The bar maid whilst adequately equipped to service our beverages order did give the impression that servicing us heavily interfered with her smoking breaks and small talk with the undead patronage ! if you want a nice drink... Thank you for your review of The Plough. Although it's never nice to receive negative feedback, it is essential that do so that we can improve what we do and how we do things. In my opinion your description of the other customers during your visit as harsh, and I'm proud to count many local councilors and business owners as... More

As locals my partner and I refused to ever return to The Plough after how we were treated by the previous management & staff. When we heard through the grapevine that Ed had taken over we decided to return and wow! The pub has always been a bit too 'local' due to the small bar area but we went to... More

Popped into this pub for a quick drink and felt very unwelcome. I appreciate the locals all like to sit at the bar but they should realise people have to stand there to order a drink. We stood by their empty stools as they were outside the front door smoking and they came back in, made a comment about the... More

Thank you for your feedback Sharon. I am sorry that the atmosphere during your visit wasn't as welcoming as we aim to make it. Of course regulars do help bring in a guaranteed income, but all of our customers are expected to show the same level of politeness and hospitality, regardless of how much money they spend in the pub.... My partner and I were just walking by when we decided we wanted to stop for something to eat. Had a quick browse at the menu, and immediately found something we fancied. The food only took about 15 minutes from ordering to our table. 5 star food and service. Lovely pub and wonderful atmosphere.

Thank you for your glowing review! We work very hard to ensure that the wait for food isn't excessive even though it is freshly prepared and home cooked, so I am glad that we didn't disappoint! I look forward to welcoming you both again soon! More

We visited by prior arrangement - a party of 12. Two of us had ordered in advance a vegetable and Stilton crumble. What we received were roast vegetable sticks - parsnip, carrot and pepper - covered by melted cheese. No crumble. The bread and butter pudding I chose for sweet course (admittedly not ordered in advance) but offered to us... More

Thank you for your review of The Plough. I am sorry that on this occasion we failed to meet yours and our high expectations. The Vegetable Stilton Crumble is one of our most popular dishes, a little while ago we adjusted the menu to replace the oat and biscuit based topping which can be quite rich, with a Panko Breadcrumb... Just stopped in for a cold drink today as it was so hot, and I have to say the atmosphere there was lovely. I was amazed at how great the place looks. It now has a warm friendly feel to it, and the little touches like flowers and cushions really made it more like a mixed pub not just for... More

Keep coming back to this pub for food and whoever I bring with me is always inpressed and keen to return. It's got a great, well executed menu of locally sourced food, a great selection of ales and all served in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere provided by the new landlord. It's a new firm favourite.

The locally sourced and freshly cooked approach to our cooking is certainly resonating with local people and I'm delighted that the people you've brought with you have enjoyed it too! I look forward to seeing you in again... More
