Good food/Good Price

It has been a very long time since I was last here, and I had heard some very mixed reports. I visited last Sunday for luncheon. The food I could not fault - beautifully served and hot. Even the plates were hot, which is always a good sign in my book. Presentation is the by-word here, and it... read more

Really good ale, food very good but unfortunately the service was a bit slow. The reason was, I guess because we were a party of 8. Pre-ordering food could possibly be an option.

We visited the Buck Inn in Maunby nr Thirsk for our second visit, we had been most pleased on our first trip there and we were certainly not disappointed 2nd time around. Everything about the Buck is well worth the going there, excellent food, good beer and wine with great service. It's a little difficult to find but certainly worth... More

Delightful evening experience - we shall return! We were made to feel most welcome, quality of drinks was great. Excellent approach by all staff who made the evening a success. Food exceptional in imagination, taste, presentation and appeal. The whole evening just worked seamlessly. Thank you!

Have been for mid week lunch twice now and the food on each occasion was superb. It was fairly quiet both times so we didn't have a service problem as other reviewers seemed to have experienced. The staff were pleasant and attentive and I found the market menu very good value..We ordered a portion of chips to accompany our mains... More

Firstly the good points: ambiance, presentation, quality of food, friendliness of staff. The disappointing aspects being: limited menu, no 'specials board', over-priced. Starters @ £8, without being over exotic, Mains around £22, Side Orders @ £3.50 and Desserts close to £7, make this an expensive Pub. Although wines start @ £17.95, they soon shoot up into the £20's and well... More

Very good food in a comfortable restaurant. Off the beaten track but well worth a visit. Agree with comments about staff friendly but professional. Pub if you just want a beer or other libation.

This pub/restaurant may be off the beaten track and definitely lacks kerb appeal but do not let this put you off. We had Sunday lunch here and it was outstanding and well worth the trek. The food was of a very high standard and each dish exceptionally tasty - which these days is a rarity! Great value, great service -... More
