Great food followed on our Saturday lunch visit; lovely rabbit risotto; Pea veloute; Quail and trout gravalax finished with lemon posset and rice pud dessert. Beauty and skill evident here. well worth a visit with good pricing and service support.

Beautiful pub, lovely ambience. Very relaxed atmosphere. Now to the food..... Twice baked cheese soufflé was cooked to perfection, full of flavour. Fish and chips, simple meal, well presented and probably the best fish and chips my partner has ever had in a pub/restaurant. Risotto was lovely, only criticism would be it needed slightly more seasoning. Unfortunately the front of... More

Very disappointed - over priced for what we had Steak was great but not convinced that salad leaves weren't out of a bag and hand cup chips tasted like lunchtime left over boiled potatoes refried! Lot of pretentious twaddle on menu - stick to good pub food and don't be over ambitious

This was our second visit to this charming country inn for food. This time was a Friday night and we arrived on spec without a reservation and with our dog. The friendly staff showed us to a table in the bar area where dogs are allowed and even brought us a bowl of water which he liked on this warm... More

I've eaten at The Buck a couple of times for sunday lunch and have always enjoyed it. This time we went for lunch on a friday and tried the al a carte menu. Food was excellent, I particularly enjoyed the rabbit starter, I can definitely recommend this dish to anyone. Even though the pub was busy with lots of people... More

Was visiting relations in the area and wow, what a find. Nice North Yorkshire village bar and a restaurant with great food at sensible prices. Varied and interesting menus, with an extra spark. Great service. Desserts to die for. Not to be missed.

We are lucky to live a few miles from The Buck and have now visited twice. The first time we went all out and had the full al a carte menu and really enjoyed the experience. It was expensive for two but the quality justified the price. Our second meal, just this week was for a lunch stop rather than... More

I have visited the Buck regularly over the last 20 years or so & found the victuals to be reliable, if unspectacular, over that period. However, I can now say that, based on yesterday's experience, the food here now is of the highest calibre & should turn this once unassuming pub into a genuine foodie destination. Our starters alone were... More
