Last year we went to the Burns Supper at The Buck Inn at Maunby on the spur of the moment. The food, ambience, service and company was first class. This year we booked well in advance and once again excellent food etc. I would recommend The Buck Inn to anyone. We intend to eat there on a more regular basis... More

Relaxed atmosphere, service that wasn't pushy and great food. The steak was beautiful and the chips and onion rings a good accompaniment. The only thing I would say is that, whilst they had a good wine menu, their real ale selection was really limited. One or two more choices would have been preferential. However, that is a minor suggestion.

Have been to the Buck several times - food is excellent and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and staff are great. Suggest you give it a try. We are going on Christmas day - went last Christmas day too and it's lovely.

I visited the Buck last week for a meal out with a local group. We had heard some reports that suggested that the meals might be a little too fancy for us - small portions with lots of decoration to fill the plates - but found our meals really good, plenty of food, well cooked and served. The vegetables were... More

A group of 8 of us ate here last night after reading about it in Yorkshire Life.Run by a young couple this is an excellent village pub serving top class food. There is a good selection of locally sourced dishes and particular mention to the cheese soufflé and the venison. It has a nice atmosphere and would definitely go back.

A bit of a trek but well worth the journey. We visited at lunch time and received a very warm welcome. The first cold day of the year and we were greeted with an open fire and fresh flowers in abundance creating a lovely atmosphere. An excellent choice of dishes and all were served piping hot. Homemade warm bread was... More

This is an excellent gesture pub in Maunby, near Thirsk. The choice is good and reasonably priced. My starter of white onion and potato soup was delicious and the use of pre-heated cast iron dishes ensured that the soup stayed piping hot to the last spoonful! My brother had a plentiful pot of mussels for starter which he said were... More

We visited for a mid week lunch and opted for the a la carte menu, although the market menu did look good too. Everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented, from the homemade bread onwards. The menu was exciting and reasonably priced for the quality of the cooking. It is a bit of a trek out to find this... More

Visited on a Friday evening and received what I thought was a disappointing welcome at the bar and were only offered the a la carte menu. My wife had to ask twice for the "Market menu". This aside the atmosphere and table service were very good and the food excellent and well above average locally for a pub. Overall it... More

We were staying at a local hotel and decided to give a local gastro pub a run out. First impressions were favourable (the staff helpful and pleasant surroundings) we ordered meals and after a short time we were taken through to the pleasant dining room to out table. After what seemed an age we got our meals. One of the... More
