Lovely room, great spa experience, food ok

We visited the Hoste as a birthday treat and had a wonderful room with a four poster bed and lovely views over The high street. I had a terrific back massage and manicure with Jackie who was great! Very much enjoyed a late afternoon catch up of the papers with a G&T, a lovely cosy atmosphere... read more

My wife and I dropped in for an impromptu lunch in the revised dining area near the bar, choosing from the bar menu. We know the soul of the Hoste went with Emma and Paul but we want it to be a great success because we have a home nearby and Burnham needs the visitors it brings. I am not... More

Not having visited for some time we decided to give the Hoste another chance after a long day walking. First impressions were favourable, the new layout looked fab and gave that bit more room for diners, and the place was busy with lots of seemingly happy customers. Very efficient chap got us seated and provided menus etc and took our... More

Given 4 stars as its above average. Staff attentive and knowledgeable. Delivery of main after starter far to fast. Food very nicely presented. Menu limited. Fairly pricey. Personally I don't think the restaurant is very atmospheric, just eating in a conservatory, certainly no ambience or romantic feel. Not helped by a 6-9 month old baby still present at 10pm. Not... We treated ourselves to a champagne afternoon tea here. The service was excellent & the staff were all really friendly. We chose to have the Hoste afternoon tea, although with the benefit of hindsight, we probably would have been better with the cream tea - the one we chose had 3 decent sized desserts per person and we couldn't finish... We had an evening meal here as we were staying in the hotel - it made sense & we were pleased we did. We both chose the specials - mushroom soup to start, which didn't come automatically with bread which seemed strange, but we were asked if we wanted some, which was fine. Then we both had the ribeye steak... More

My mother lives nearby, as do other members of my family. And I have been visiting North Norfolk for years. Involved in the hospitality industry all my life, I have enjoyed visiting The Hoste for many years, and many other pubs & restaurants in the area. It was sad that the previous owner, Paul Whittome, passed away before his twilight... More

We've been visiting The Hoste for many years, We stayed several years ago but now as we live in the area we visit for drinks, coffee, lunch, dinner. In recent years we have had very patchy experiences, mostly around service but food also below average compared with other eating establishments in North Norfolk. However I visited twice for supper with... More

Light and airy eating space but we had a very long wait for our fish soup and what eventually arrived was clearly the soup of the day (tomatoe and pepper) with a few bits of fish lobbed in. iT would have been better just to tell us they were out of the fish soup as it did not need the... More

My husband and I visit the Hoste regularly. Burn ham Market is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. It has a selection of great shops and the Hoste offers a great place to eat and stay. We went for lunch over the Christmas holidays. We shared the s a food platter which was of great quality and the service is... More
