As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a sign directing us to the bar, just make sure you follow this directive or you will be told off by the owner! The decor is rather dated, in fact the whole experience including the food seems to have been locked in a time warp back to the 1970's. We went... More

Based on very good reviews we decided to go for an evening meal at The Cottage, and unfortunately we don't seem to have gone to the same restaurant as everyone else. outside very attractive, inside awful. Dark, dingy and in desperate need of a complete decoration, this really was uncomfortable for me. I would never go here for a second visit.... More

We were in a large group 60+ ordered our food some weeks prior to our visit, so they should be well prepared The first course came reasonably quickly, but it took over an hour for our main course, no apologies before or after I brought it to the Managers attention. The quality of the food was excellent, and the staff... More

When we parked at just past 8pm the restaurant was empty so we weren't sure that it was open but we pushed the door and went into the bar. It is, as many reviewers have said, a dated venue but the service was friendly and welcoming so we took our menus and drinks and sat down. The menu is also... More

First impressions are of a rather dated 70s bar and parts of the menu are a bit dated too eg the choice of "soup or fruit juice" as a second course. However don't be put off by first appearances. The restaurant itself is very pleasant and the food is very good indeed. The four course set dinner menu is great... More

I note from a lot of comments on here the Cottage is not some peoples chosen restaurant,if you like good old fashioned English food at a very good price, this is the place for you. I note the people who have issues are mainly from the South of the country,i have issues when i visit that part of the country... More
