We visited for Sunday lunch as a large group (booked in advance). The food is lovely, service is great and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Two friends were celebrating their 50th birthdays and the landlady presented them with a little impromptu cake with candles and sang happy birthday. Highly recommended!

Previous visits have often been a success but not always the best value. Cosy ambience and a delightful terrace/garden for the summer.

A group of us visited the Plough recently for a nice post walk lunch. The pub is situated just out of the lovely village of Hathersage in beautiful surroundings. The food was of a good standard but hardly plentiful & overpriced by 50% of what I'd expect to pay for an equivalent meal at another pub in the Hope Valley,... More

Went for a birthday meal and close from the special festive menu. Was fairly disappointed with main courses especially. Very ordinary fare for the price - about the standard of Wetherspoons for 3 times the cost. Decent cheeseboard, but the Bakewell pudding not really up to scratch - too much sugar and not much else.

Arrived rather muddy after a walk on a wet day so not sure whether we would be welcome. However we had no problem . Staff were very friendly and attentive and meal was excellent. Would definitely go again.

Food was ok though no more but that's not a complaint, more an acknowledgment of how good previous visits have been. What was disappointing was the service. Slow throughout despite staff numbers seeming adequate. My wife and I were served by at least 4 different people over the course of the evening. That can be ok but not when those... More
