We used to go to Riverside when the previous owners had it. They sold to the present owners about a year ago. The shop itself is now a bit more crowded as they have tried to squeeze in some new lines including a large refrigerated display of luxury chocolates, however some of the staff are the same and the ethos... It was very busy and quite crowded but we managed to squeeze in. We had lunch in the cafe and enjoyed it very much indeed. We sat at the window and watched the birds feeding. All in all a very pleasant meal.

Having lived in Sheffield for many years, and often walked in & around Hathersage & Castleton, I've driven past the Riverside many times & not known it was there. And what a gem. Great selection of herbs & reasonably priced plants in the garden centre. But it's the cafe & the view from it which is the star. Looking down... More

I too, like the last reviewer have visited here only once or twice to eat, so today I attempted to visit the deli with a friend who I wanted to see this nice cafe & deli as he wasn't local. We would love to rate the overpriced food or the standard of the drinks but we weren't allowed to order... More

I've visited this place three times. First time my friend and I had a nice lunch. On the second occasion they lost my order, promised to sort it out in 'two minutes' then finally refunded my money when, after a 40 minute wait, no food was forthcoming. I thought I'd give them another try last Saturday and turned up with... More

We dropped into Riverside Herb cafe between Hathersage and Bamford a couple of weeks ago and while eating lovely cake (carrot cake for my daughter; scone with jam for son and some lovely tiffin for me) saw about 15-16 types of birds on the feeders right next to the windows. It was really lovely and the kids really enjoyed people... More

We called in here after passing by a couple of times on the Castleton Road. We never ate or drank here, but had a good look around the deli and plant section. It is a small deli offering a range of cheeses and other typical deli selections. We bought a couple of cheeses and other bits and pieces, all of... More

The place is warm and welcoming. Coffee was excellent. Cake was very tasty but probably a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Bird feeder station was a nice touch and proved popular. When we visited the car park was full and the cafe was not. Not enough parking. Will return for lunch one day.

travelling around hope Valley stumbled on this little place on the main road between Hathersage and Bamforth. What a find. Becon butty with brown sauce, went down a treat. Great place will be back if every holidaying around there again
