This is one of the best pub restaurants I have tried in the Peak District in the last 30 years

This was a breath of fresh air as Pub restaurants go as the food, setting and service were just excellent. I rock climb in the Peak District and have for decades. The challenge is always to find somewhere really good to eat after a hard day out on the crag and here it is at the Plough.

We went on the recommendation of a friend having first checked the website. It looked promising if a little pricey compared with others pubs and restaurants in the area. We chose to sit on the terrace where, between the thundering of lorries hidden from view by the hedge, we could hear the bubbling of the stream below. I chose lemon... More

I come to this pub every Wednesday with my dad and my son we call it grandad day. The food is outstanding and always served by wonderful staff. Our food has never been late it has always arrived in a really good time. The food is very reasonably priced and drinks are too would highly recommend this pub to anyone.

We took my uncle, two dogs and our family here for lunch. The menu was reasonably extensive, the staff attentive and friendly and we were made very welcome. We have eaten here 4 times this year and every meal has been delicious and well presented.

Last visited this pub 28 years ago and it is still popular with locals, walkers, and bikers. It has a tasty range if food from sandwiches to nice dining with ales, wine and champagne to sink a ship. Will definitely visit again.

Had an extremely good "celebratory" meal here, after completing a 6 day, 96 mile walk around the Peak District. Nice welcome. Food and wine bit pricier than some evening meals we had in Derbyshire, but quality certainly merited the prices. Jerusalem/Globe artichokes and feta starter, duck liver parfait, pork done 3 ways, olive and sun dried tomato linguini, walnut and... More

We stopped here around 2pm having been on a long walk that morning and having seen it recommended. The guy behind the bar who I assume to be the manager was VERY good at his job and was very attentive. The food was DELICIOUS and extremely well presented so we were not disappointed. And if it had not been for... More

Stayed last night and had dinner in the restaurant. Excellent food and very friendly staff. A family run pub like this is a lovely find.
