WE really enjoyed the food here. I had griiled sardines with brown toast ice cream. Very odd you might say but it worked. My husband had parfait brulee which again was superb. We loved the whole experience and can't wait to go again.

We have an annual climbing trip to the Peaks, and dinner at the George has become a regular highlight. The quality and choice of food is excellent. My crab and sea bream were superb, though my pals were even more enthusiastic about their pigeon and pheasant. A fine G&T in the bar before, and a very reasonable claret with the... More

We stopped here to get out of the rain and decided to have a late lunch. We were too late for the main restaurant so chose from the bar menu, sitting in a beautiful room and enjoying our food very much (toasted cheese and pumpkin soup/cheese sandwich). The food, which looked quite plain from the menu, looked and tasted delicious... More

We will be stopping over here during Christmas & they kindly showed us the rooms which we might be allocated, nothing was too much trouble. Cannot wait to stop with this team again.

Two friends and I nipped into George's to escape the rain. The tea and scones were delicious! The service was excellent; friendly and welcoming with an excellent standard of professionalism. A lovely space.

Went there for dinner based on recommendations here. Would have been better in the pub down the road. The food was pretentious without any quality. We had the fish that was swimming in an un-identified and tasteless green soup, and the rabbit, which was dry, and did not even look like rabbit meat. The grand finale was the "cheesecake", which... We had 4 lovely nights at this hotel. All of the staff were very attentive, especially Martin, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

We visited the George on a Saturday evening whilst staying in Hathersage celebrating our anniversary. It was perfect for a special occasion. Wish we lived closer! The staff were all friendly, attentive and professional, the restaurant and lounge area were welcoming and it had all the little details you'd expect from an excellent restaurant. We had two courses as we'd... More

We went to the George to spoil ourselves, and we where not disappointed at all. The staff and the food where both amazing. My husband is dairy intolerant, and we where sent the menu before attending and there was so much choice, I even decided to eat of the same menu as it sounded amazing, and it was just so... More

Had the set lunch here last week. Very limited choice but really nicely served in the lovely restaurant (not keen on eating full meals at coffee tables in the lounge so we opted for the dining room) Food was OK but a but I was disappointed with the fish and chips - meagre portion too. The pudding was nice though... More
