This chippy isn't open all the time and sometimes when you need a snack it isn't available, but when it is, it's ok, you can sit down outside to eat your chips, but best to walk round and love this gorgeous village.

We had a trip down Giants Hole cave and followed this up with a bit of geo-caching around Mam Tor - time for some snap! Two o'clock on a Sunday afternoon, still open and the waft of fresh frying - chip butties, sausage and chips and a fish and chips - lovely! Fresh and crisp. Perhaps too much 'butter' on... More

We had fish and chips which were lovely and fresh. There was plenty for one person. The family enjoyed them. The fish was skinless and priced at £4.10 and the chips £1.50. A small peas was 80p. Did not have anything else. The only downside is that they are only open Saturday and Sunday 12 -5pm. I hope this review... More

We had fish & chips for lunch which we were really looking forward to but couldn't get over the small portions. Cod and chips were £5.10 which we thought were very expensive considering the small portion size. The fish tasted okay shame there wasn't much of it and there was nothing special about the chips. A good location with a... More

In all the years we have run the fish and chip shop I have never heard our portions are small mentioned even once, you have neglected to mention that for a few pence more we offer a large portion!!! On the day you visited you would have seen numerous customers leaving the shop with their produce, if you thought the... More

Had dinner here on a Saturday, just outside the main tourist season. Arrived at chippy just gone 5pm and were the last people served - 2 or 3 other groups of customers arrived while we were outside eating and left disappointed. We pointed out one group to the owners - and they weren't hugely concerned about the lost customers. We... More

We visited Castelton for the day and were looking forward to fish + chips for tea after walking up the broken road with my 2 young boys. What we got were 2 very disappointed + hungry young boys as it was CLOSED!! The website about it said open 11.30am to 11pm but the sign was for just 12pm-3pm which was... More

I find it hard to understand why tripadvisor allows incorrect information to be posted on the website. The review states our website indicates we are open from 11.30 to 11 every day. Problem number one, we don't have a website. Problem number two. Our business hours are clearly indicated on our shop window. Clearly it is a after of opinion... More

The chippy was open 12 till 5 and we got there about 1:30 When we got there the queue but they were getting down it as fast as they could. We wanted 3 chips and sausage, chips and fish cake , peas and gravy. They had run out of gravy. The kids enjoyed what they had but I was a... More

My last visit wasn't as good as usual and service wasn't very friendly or quick. Having said that the chips are usually good there.
