There were five of us and we had pots of tea and cakes, scones and treacle tart. We all enjoyed them and I think the price for the treacle tart was about average, but the cake was a bit on the dear side. The staff were very pleasant - the little waitress couldn't do enough for us bringing extra hot... More

Visited in May 2014 with my family visiting from Canada, experienced very poor service, poor quality coffee and the cakes were dry (we assumed they were from the previous day).

I have never experienced such rude service for such poor quality food. This experience will make me visit other areas rather than going to Castleton again.

Quiet Friday afternoon in early May, cafe fairly busy. Lovely lunch and friendly staff. Nice surroundings, well placed near the tourist information centre car park. We both had the black pudding, bacon and cheese on bruchetta and it was delicious!! Individually prepared, choice of cheese, and served with a lovely salad with a balsamic dressing. My husband had the coffee... More

Food was OK but a bit expensive - had a large sausage and egg sandwich , would hate to see a normal size one as mine was quite small. It was an indication of what to expect, a sign for staff wanted - service was dreadfull, and place was like a zoo, deafening screeming kids( although you vcant blame the... More

This little cafe is well placed in one of my favourite places in the UK, Castleton. I finally decided to give it a try and was quite let down. The food is all mass produced and not of the best quality, the sizes were minuscule, especially the children's options, which were insufficient for a 2 yr old never mind a... More

We ordered 4 items which all came separately so we ate at different times, one was duplicated. The staff seemed too busy to talk to us, took our order and whizzed off, food was dumped on the table without and courtesy and the staff spend a lot of time apparently grumbling to each other. It was fine but that's about... More

My husband and I visited on Saturday 12th April mid morning for a cup of tea-, a cappuccino and a toasted tea cake to share. We have been here before but about 7 years ago when we last in Castleton, when we really enjoyed our visit- hence our return. It had been a cosy welcoming place and was brilliant after... More

First up; I am not a dog lover. I didn't appreciate having the proprietor's dog keep coming back to sniff me. It was well behaved and if ignored or told 'No!' it walked off, only to come back. Having said that the service was good and food was freshly cooked. Our order arrived in a timely manner and the pot... More
