Consistently good food and service

This is the third time we have been to the Rose and Crown, it has a lovely atmosphere, they achieve a great balance, it is not pretentious in any way and the food is excellent and good value too. Imaginative starters and mains, fabulous puddings and not overlarge portions, actually the puddings are... read more

I visited The Rose and Crown with four family members to celebrate my 82 year old mothers birthday. We all chose something different and we were all extremely happy with our meals. It was our first visit to this pub, but it won't be our last. I strongly recommend The Rose and Crown for it's ambiance, service, value and wonderful... More

Visited for the first time having heard good things from friends. A slightly odd entry - felt unsure whether we should sit down as if it were a pub or wait to be seated as if a restaurant. We decided to hover near the bar! We asked if a table was free and one was pointed out and we were... More

We have not visited in about a year- and the food and service standards remain exceptional. Our food was great and the service was nice. We have never had a bad meal here. The chef regularly checks on your experience and we are always happy to tell him how lovely all the food was.

Good choice of menu. Prompt and attentive serving staff. ample car parking. Pleasant decor. Well maintained property. Very close to Mayfield Hall if you are staying there and want to walk to the Rose and Crown for supper or lunch

Popped in to the Rose and Crown on Friday lunch time, ended up staying much longer than planned. Wonderful setting, great food and friendly staff. Had the delicious stake and ale pie. Followed by apple crumble that was straight out of my childhood accompanied by fantastic home made ice-cream. Just wish this place was closer to my home!

Four people plus a child well served with good food for a let Sunday lunch. A reasonable selection of Sunday fare including roasts, salmon and steak followed by a choice of 6/7 puds. We enjoyed it and were mad every welcome. A better range of real ales would lift my mark to 5 from 4.

Stayed for the evening to celebrate my birthday with my partner and did not want to leave. Everything you come to expect, great location, clean, hospitable, comfortable and welcoming! Room was a good size, clean and comfortable. No hassle on check in and breakfast was wonderful in front of a log burner. Lady who served breakfast was just amazing! Could... More

We visited the rose and crown last night for an early Mother's Day meal and it was faultless! We visit regularly and never have a bad word to say about it! My family chose from the specials menu and each meal was extremely tasty and good value for money. We also ordered 2 starters ( homemade mushroom soup and prawn... More

I have eaten at the Rose & Crown on a number of occasions. The food is always presented well and faultless every time. I last went for Sunday lunch with my family. All plates were clean at the end of the meal. We had the homemade ice cream for desert. We all would certainly recommend the ice cream as it... More
