This pub has relatively recently been refurbished and, wow, what a refurbishment! The decor is excellent and modern twists have been added without losing any of the old-world charm. It seems that no expense has been spared in making this place great. As for the food: it was beautifully presented and interesting. It is clear that the chef and his... More

My husband and I were visiting the area and took a look on trip advisor to see where to go for dinner. We are so glad we chose to eat here. The food was amazing, beautifully cooked and presented. My husband is a chef himself and can be difficult to cater for sometimes- he loved it here though and didn't... More

A lovely pub, well not really a pub, more a warm, welcoming, beautifully decorated restaurant with good food. They accommodated 8 of us in a private room, that was delightful, beautifully decorated and very welcoming, food was good, wine excellent and very reasonably priced. Only fault was the 10% SEVICE charged added to the bill, only spotted at the last... More

excellent in every aspect, the welcome and the service throughout was friendly without being overly so. We had a mix of starters and all were excellent, the mains (4 beef dinners) was simply the best Sunday lunch I have ever had. No room for deserts but an excellent bottle of rjoca finished the afternoon off nicely. We will be back

Very good, which means popular busy and a little noisy. Wide and varied choice of well cooked and presented courses, the Wooton egg was very nice, rib eye steak cooked to my liking (though a few more chips would have been great). The desert though was amazing - chocolate brownie that should not be shared....... I will be back.

I visited here last weekend with my girlfriend and her family. The first thing you will notice is that everything is perfectly decorated and well placed. The menu was good and we each had 3 courses all of which were well received and enjoyed. I will definitely be making a return visit.

This place is lovely, so it may well be the right pub for you. But it wasn't the right pub for us! The interior is beautiful - very well preserved/renovated, but not a cosy village pub. It's quite posh. The staff were more than friendly, polite and smiling all the time. Service was quick and professional. What disappointed me was... More

We had visited nearby Denstone Farm Shop and having found their restaurant very busy on Saturday lunchtime , we were heading back towards Ashbourne. The Duncombe Arms with its new smart tarmac car park beckoned us in.Very smart and contemporary and a bit expensive for lunch was our first impression , but after being seated at a cosy table for...
