A fun challenge to cross the river and fun passing fellow tourists crossing from the other side, it can get busy so if you dare it's fun to cross over in the river instead.

We were staying in Swinscoe and we were pleasantly surprised. The stepping stones are absolutely beautiful. It was a shame we had not taken our springer spaniel Daisy with us on this trip as she would have loved it.It is a fairly level walk to the stepping stones among absolutely beautiful countryside, being members of national trust it is free to park.We went... When we last visited we waited an hour for our food which with 2 young children was far too long. On this visit we waited a reasonable time and the food was nice and plentiful. Lots of choice on the menu. I would agree with previous comments though that it's starting to get a bit expensive.

Not the best example of a marstons pub. The dapple grey in Uttoxeter is far nicer & it is buy one get one free! Not many homemade things on the menu & not particularly cheap. Pick a side guys cheap & cheerful or expensive & tasteful. I've given you a fair go, but I wont be back for a 4th... More

Thank you for your feedback, i am very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your recent visit. Im afraid we do not choose "which side", though i would say we are more in the middle. We are a branded operation and therefore our menus are managed centrally. However, unlike the pub you mentioned, we do have more fresh meals... More

I used to work here and so did my partner as it is where we met so before Christmas we thought we would nip back with our new daughter to see everyone. Unfortunately it was the worst decision we have made as we got ignored by Alex who refused to come and even serve us, and we were blatantly being... More

Went here hoping for a nice meal with my other half. I had the half a chicken with jacket potato, veg and a side order of corn on the cob. The veg and corn on the cob was over cooked and soggy. The potato was still hard. This pub used to be ok but definitely has gone downhill. We also... More

We had dinner here one weeknight during February half term when visiting nearby alton towers - we had the rotisserie chicken option which was nice and kids meal was reasonable quality and nice portion size. Prices reasonable for ok good but nothing special.

This was one of my favourite eating stops when in the Ashbourne area but the last 2 visits have been very disappointing mainly the food quality.my wife had an excuse for a goats cheese and onion type pie, when cutting through the pastry there was hardly enough filling to fill a thimble,I had what was called a gourmet burger sadly It...
