This place is nicely decorated and furnished, staff are pleasant and helpful, food is good considering the cheap prices! attended here for lunch a few times as I work in the area and this is a great place to call in on if you are in a hurry, same also if you aren't! lots of choices and even though it... Clean well kept pub. Next to travel lodge. Very busy need to book. Noisy lots of children running around. No where to sit for a drink devoted to dinners. Good bar service but prepared to stand with your drink. As the night goes on poor slap dash service. Food warm not hot and service poor.p

I guess you have to speak as you find but I do wonder what sort of expectations some reviewers had before going into the Stepping Stones restaurant on the A52 near Ashbourne. We called in here on our way up to Macclesfield last week to refuel - us not the car since we had a very long day ahead, returning... More

Yes we know these places are all the same cook it quick and get it out there...but there are times when this what you need, Having driven for hours in appalling weather up popped the stepping stones, the staff were friendly and helpful and the fish chips and mushy peas (what else) was superb. if you want 'Haute cuisine' (and... Stopped off for food on way home from Alton Towers. Service was good but food can only be described as average. Wouldn't bother in future

We stayed in the travel lodge so for convenience we ate here....lets just say for our second night (tonight) we are driving somewhere else. The food was terrible, watery and 100% microwaved, not worth a penny of what we paid!

A last minute family get together for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived and fitting 7 guests quite a challenge. The reception member of staff kept us informed re time to wait and made us feel valued. Once a suitable table was available the staff ensured we were looked after, the children given the opportunity to... More

Was staying at the travelodge next door and came in for a light bite and a few drinks in the evening. Nice atmosphere. Menu was good and reasonable. Staff were friendly. The travelodge doesn't do breakfast and nor does the stepping stones so I think they are missing a trick here, we would have come here again in the morning... More

Decided to call in for a family meal on way home rather than have theme park fast food and was pleasantly surprised by the spotless outlet, friendly staff and good food. Olive and rustic bread starter was really tasty and couldn't fault the chicken main meal. Nice pint of Hobgoblin. Was too full for a pudding and nothing I would... More

Ok, to be fair, some of the food isn't great - for a large chain pub you would expect better consistency. But the staff are fabulous. It's clean throughout, and welcoming.
