Really Nice Food & Good Service

Staying at the hotel on a business trip, I tried the pub grub in the bar/restaurant. Starter of salt and pepper squid was excellent. It's amazing how many eateries over cook the squid, but this tasted fresh and not chewy. The 'classic burger' (burger, cheese and bacon in brioche) main was seasoned... read more

I had an enjoyable stay. I usually expect very little from a Monday night anywhere in the UK. But this proved to be a very friendly hotel. Many of my fellow guests had been there since early December on and off working on nearby flood damaged houses .They all seemed well pleased with the Melbreaks food and sociable bar area.... More

Have been staying here for few weeks for work locally and was immediately made to feel welcome by staff. Alison on reception is really warm and genuine and was keen to ensure I was welcome as soon as I arrived. She rang me in the mornings to make sure I was aware of breakfast and as I was working late... More

This hotel is quite local to us, but we haven't been here for quite a while. It was lunch time and there was only one other table of four people occupied. Drinks were ordered and served quite quickly, but there was a long wait before our meal order was taken, and another long wait before the waitress returned to say... More

Decided to go here instead of our usual places, for hubby's birthday meal i don't think i will be rushing back. You went through reception to get to bar the lady on there never even acknowledged our presence, stood a few minutes and one of the young girls waiting on showed us to our table. Left us for a few... My wife and I had dinner at this hotel And while it is not a posh place, but does not try to be a posh place. The food was great, we had garlic mushrooms for starter which where very nice. My wife had Scampi, and I had Chicken Caesar Salad. Both where very nice, and it is a shame we... More

When we walked in the staff greeted us warmly and all seemed to be set fair for a good evening. We shared a ring of garlic bread while waiting for our main courses to arrive but it was uninspiring. Our mains were battered cod , which was described as having batter that was so flat it could have been ironed,... More

Often eat here with business associates, this place just gets better and better. The menu is vast with a great wine list, the food is always well presented and plentiful and the staff are always very friendly. Never had a bad meal and always look forward to returning.

Have never been here before despite living really near, we decided to pop in for S unday lunch and really glad we did. The food was excellent, the staff were attentive, the restaurant was clean, bright and airy and the prices were really reasonable. We had starters and roast mains but sadly had no room for the lovely looking desserts... More
