This is a character listed property of over 400 year old that has recently undergone a major re-furbishment. With a new commercial kitchen, contemporary style furniture, restored original wooden flooring from the deck of a ship and hand painted murals, this is a family business of over 105 years old that is one, if not the oldest, in the Lake District. During the day, downstairs we are a fully licensed bistro style restaurant with traditional Italian style take away fish & chips. In the evening, by prior arrangement, we open to offer a private dining experience. We are not like the other restaurants in the area with a large busy bar. Our ambition is to remain very small and exclusive. We can cater for between 2 and 12 people each evening with the facility becoming yours. For larger parties, you have your own chief and waitress. We offer a standard menu but prefer to design a menu of seafood and steaks as you prefer. We offer a fine wine list, some beers and a selection of fine Scottish malt whiskey.

Not Great.

Nice atmosphere and Lovely service. The fish cakes didn't taste of anything but portions more than generous. Overall Wine selection was very good.

There are a couple of decent chippy's in Whitehaven but Arrighis is the one we always return to especially as Crosbys have now left the building. Have never had a bad meal here - chips have always been freshly made when we've been in and the fish freshly cooked, juicy and succulent with friendly staff treating you like long lost... More

We went in on Halloween and were greeted by scary and Mary (not their real names I hasten to add) who were dressed to the nines in the spirit of halloween. At least they assured me they didn't usually dress to impress like this on a Saturday afternoon. We couldn't have had a more warm and friendly welcome. The food... More

This is a real gem of a fish and chip restaurant, close to the harbour. There are several small rooms all with character. The fish is superb, sea fresh. This family have been perfecting their fish frying skills for four generations. Not to be missed when in this pearl of a town.

Friendly staff were un-phased by us changing from takeaway to eat in half way through the order. Food was good all fresh cooked good portions and only the skate was missing (we were late afternoon). Nicely atmosphere and paintings by a local born artist decorated the walls.

staff very friendly and attentive, was expecting fresh cooked produce but was clearly frozen food. Food tasted ok and was suitably heated but didn't live to expectations which is a shame as he staff where eager to please.

We were looking to stop for lunch on Saturday and saw someone sitting inside with a massive home made pie chips and gravy so went in. We opted to sit outside as it was a warm day and ordered fish and chips and pie chips peas and gravy - with a couple of Corona beers. The staff were lovely particularly... More

We've been here various times for fish and chips which are always nice, so we thought we would try out the seafood restaurant. The food which we had was fresh and very tasty! When the food arrived it was nicely presented. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and the service was brilliant, definitely worth a visit.

Ate here one afternoon, we had fish and chips when they came we both just looked at them and couldn't believe that they had actually put it on the plate and thought it was ok to serve! they were VERY well done and as if they had just been sat there a wile and then stuck back in the fryer... More
