Description: This is a character listed property of over 400 year old that has recently undergone a major re-furbishment. With a new commercial kitchen, contemporary style furniture, restored original wooden flooring from the deck of a ship and hand painted murals, this is a family business of over 105 years old that is one, if not the oldest, in the Lake District. During the day, downstairs we are a fully licensed bistro style restaurant with traditional Italian style take away fish & chips. In the evening, by prior arrangement, we open to offer a private dining experience. We are not like the other restaurants in the area with a large busy bar. Our ambition is to remain very small and exclusive. We can cater for between 2 and 12 people each evening with the facility becoming yours. For larger parties, you have your own chief and waitress. We offer a standard menu but prefer to design a menu of seafood and steaks as you prefer. We offer a fine wine list, some beers and a selection of fine Scottish malt whiskey.

Chips were very undercooked, what can I say its a chip shop and they get that wrong. Nice staff and building but terrible chips.

Have just visited Arrighi's for the first time this evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Everything is freshly cooked and the service was excellent! A small restaurant with a big friendly welcome, thank you for a lovely evening Carla & Maria

Visited Arrighi's seafood restaurant on a bleak Monday between Christmas and New Year being enticed in strangely not by sea food but by the daily special of Home Made Meat and Potato Pie, Chips, Peas and Gravy for the remarkable price of less than a fiver. There was a warm feel to the restaurant with customers seeming to be enjoying... More

Upstairs ... fish restaurant was incredible. Lovely atmosphere, very relaxed and great food. It wouldn't be out of place in a bigger city so something quite different for Whitehaven. Really enjoyable and we will definitely go back.

I am sorry to say my husband and I went there today and it was the worse fish and chips we had ever seen. My husband refused to try them. The chips were a soggy greasy brown colour, the fish was a tiny cod fillet with a half soggy batter, the fish looked ok, didn't taste too bad but it... More

We were a Party of 6 on a Friday evening, excellent service from start to finish, great attention to detail, with a nice atmosphere. A really good variety of food and wine available on the menu, with additional fresh seafood available as the daily specials. Will definitely return, really good value.

Great food and service. Very well priced too. Only quibble was the portions were average, bigger portions would have been welcomed but was very good either way. thanks

We visited this Restaurant prior to making a 7 hour Car journey home so a Good Meal Hearty Meal meal was certainly what was required. This little Quaint Restaurant is situated in a market place that is right next to the harbour so you get a really good feel for what a Seafood restaurant is all about. The service was... More

We had fish and chips 5 times, and it was all cooked freshly. The tartar sauce was lovely, the lady said she made her own. The batter on the fish was melt in your mouth. Can't really ask for more from fish and chips on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Had fresh cooked cod and chips there yesterday, the batter was the worst I have ever tasted anaemic soggy batter covered slimy fish and hard tastes chips. Only eat one mouthful the rest went in the bin.
