Nice relaxing place for lunch just 5 minutes from train station

Had a very nice halloumi with sweet chilli and salad Panini for lunch, served by friendly staff. Order at the counter and then the food is brought to you when ready.

This cafe is run by staff from the Manjushri Buddhist Meditation Centre. It is cozy and warm, prices are reasonable and there are Buddhist books you can read while you are there. They hold lunchtime meditation classes on certain days during the week. All their food is vegetarian.

It wasn't open except for last couple days of my visit and then there was nothing i fancied. Soup bowls were either too small or too large with two prices and only ordinary bread and they don't have facility ot seems for jacket potatoes so i just went somewhere else on two occasions. They used to do nice meals in... More

Delicious sandwiches and made fast to takeout if you need to catch a train which is what we did. Otherwise, it looks like a very nice place to relax, read, and enjoy a vegetarian lunch or breakfast.

Oh dear oh dear, I have been going to this charming café for years, even making special detours at times as it was such a lovely experience. A top notch place for lunch and always excellent vegetarian choices easily as good as Zeffirellis in Ambleside, alas no more. In the past few years its really not lived up to its... More

The atmosphere and food were both very good, with friendly staff and some interesting bits and pieces offered for sale in the shop area.

I'm not a vegetarian but they do only vegetarian food and it is very good and has a distinctive and interesting style. The staff are usually friendly but it depends who you get as they recruit 'volunteers' who have to commit to x amount of hours per week in order to live at the 'retreat' (not really a volunteering ethos)....
