I have visited the establishment on numerous occasions and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are more than generous. The food is obviously homemade. All the dishes we were served were presented beautifully, cooked to perfection, piping hot and served quickly. Would recommend to anyone. A beautiful pub in an idyllic village. Fantastic food,... A real delight. Tucked away in a little village some distance from Ulverston and Dalton is this gem. Arriving as a bunch of 5 middle aged blokes on a Tues afternoon the service we received was Cumbrian friendliness at its best. Well kept Robinson's beer.

I have been to the General Burgoyne on a number of occasions and normally enjoy it. On the last visit I was really disappointed I ordered Scotch Egg for a starter and it was awful the sausage meat was greasy and grey and it also contained a side salad which was brown. For our main we had Fish and chips... More

From the greeting given by either the landlord Brian or the Bar Manager, James through the meal to the great ambience in this establishment. The General Burgoyne is an old pub that has had the addition of an Orangerie for dining and entertainment, and yet still retains it's olde worlde charm. The ambience is good and the locals very welcoming... More

Spent a memorable new years eve 2015/16. The food was great an A+ and there was a good atmosphere throughout. The staff couldn't do enough for us and they were very busy as the restaurant was full. I spoke to some of the other diners during the evening and they only had good things to say about the food. A... More

With 3 generations (9 in total ) converging for our (slightly belated ) christmas get together, we quickly agreed that to cook for everyone was too much trouble and decided to let the Burgoyne take the strain. Although quite recently in new hands, we had heard good things both about the new ownership, and the quality of the food. We... More

Lovely pub: really cosy and welcoming. Service was really good and at no point did the meal feel rushed. The food was well presented and all starters and courses arrived in a timely fashion and together. No issues with any of the meals: they were really good and as there were 10 of us, that is a real positive! I... More
