Another great week

For the last holiday of the year, we, of course, stayed at the usual Crake Valley Site This is only a couple of miles from The Red Lion, so we called in most nights to see all our local friends. Steve and Lucy were unfortunately away on holiday, but we were looked after by the very professional... read more

Stayed next door to this pub on Lowick Show day, dropped in for a meal. Fabulous food and great atmosphere. Would suggest a visit while in this beautiful area.

Very Enjoyable. Stayed here for over two weeks when working in the area in July. Pleasant pub with friendly and attentive staff. Steve & his wife are making a great attempt at maintaining a village pub atmosphere with a music evening & friendly locals. Used 2 of the 3 rooms which were both comfortable & adequate when working away. Always... More

Traditional pub in the middle of nowhere - great stop in the middle of the day to replenish energy levels. Not too busy.

Quiet and very friendly pub, I stayed one night b&b recently. Got chatting to the friendly locals. Food was usual pub gayer, excellent beer, this is a traditional quiet place and very authentic.

While on a Stagg do in the lakes last week, we found ourselves on Saturday night in need of something to eat. After a couple of negative responses from other establishments, when we called the Red Lion and asked if 14 of us could role up at short notice for food we weren't very hopeful. The Landlord said he was... More

My wife and I recently spent the night at the Red Lion on our way up to Wasdale for the weekend. It was exactly what we wanted. Our room was lovely with a great view over the fells from our window, and a nice modern bathroom too. The food in the bar was fantastic and both my Lasagne and my... More

A group of 20 of us were camping near the Red Lion over the first bank holiday weekend. We started by meeting at the Red Lion for lunch on the Saturday and enjoyed proper pub food done well and a really warm welcome from Steve the landlord - I enjoyed some fantastic Whitby scampi and chips and there was a... We have just returned from a visit to the lakes on what turned out to be a beautiful Easter break. We popped in to The Red Lion on Good Friday for a lunchtime pint and sandwich whilst we waited for our cottage check in time. Great pub and friendly staff who were very welcoming to a somewhat rowdy and excitable... More
