we were made welcome and so was our dog!

Had a great experience here, the owner was friendly, service was very good too. Really enjoyed our meal, no complaints at all. Stayed over and had a fabulous full english breakfast, huge portions.

We turned up at this pub a little off track on the Cumbrian Way. Steve the publican was charming and very kind with a typically British sense of humour. We rested our legs for a half an hour, enjoying a restorative drink and engaging conversation. Without us asking, Steve offered to drive us a couple of miles down the road,... More

For over 15 years, my wife Jean and i , have called in most nights for a couple of drinks on our way back to the static caravan. Sadly, Jean passed away in March, at a time we had another trip to the Lakes booked. my lovely daughter Kathryn suggested that we go and stay at The Red Lion, so... More

Visited the Red Lion while house hunting. Stopped for a pint and decided to have lunch. Lovely little pub, excellent choice of real ale, good food and very good service. Allowed to take our dog in (who was rewarded for his good behaviour by a biscuit from the landlord). They have a small outdoor patio area although it was a... More

Went out to the Red Lion as a couple for a meal to celebrate my husband's birthday. Never actually gone into the pub before....only walked past as it is on the Keswick to Barrow walk route. Quite a small menu, however we both managed to find something we fancied and the food itself was good and reasonably priced. Good service... More

We used to come to this pub regularly around 20 years ago when were on holiday in the Lake District with our parents, the food then was excellent. Now 20 years on and spending another holiday in the area with our parents for a family celebration, my family decided to eat here once more, we were not disappointed! We tried... More

A group of us stayed nearby for some mountain biking and were really impressed with the friendly atmosphere, warm fire and good effort to provide gluten free options for one of our group - great place, we'll be back in the summer!

We stayed nearby and visited the pub on three evenings. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we particularly enjoyed their music evening when locals came and played instruments and sang. Great fun! The food was served quickly and was traditional pub food with huge portions.Comfortable with log fire. Philip was very good humoured and attentive.

For the last holiday of the year, we, of course, stayed at the usual Crake Valley Site This is only a couple of miles from The Red Lion, so we called in most nights to see all our local friends. Steve and Lucy were unfortunately away on holiday, but we were looked after by the very professional Philip. As usual,... More
