Good in many ways

Found this place late at night on a Friday, just before they closed, but service was very good and surroundings pleasant although you do have to pick your way through a bar, another bar, up a spiral staircase, and another bar before you find the restaurant! Local produce nicely cooked, I had salt... read more

Went for a family meal on Sunday evening, nice atmosphere and good service, the starters were really nice you can tell it's all homemade, my children had a fresh baked pizza that they loved, my husband had a very well cooked steak and I had the duck which was ok, could of done with a little more seasoning but was... I like the Mill because there's a lot of space yet it feels extremely, cosy. There's always a little place to retreat to with out being forgotton about. The food is always good and they are non judgemental about alternative pizza topping combos. This I like, the only menu veggie one used to have pak choi on...who wants cabbage on... More

Went to the Mill 1\2\15 with my husband a 3 year old son. We ordered the 3 course for £12:95 beef roast. Lovely starter but so very disappointed in the roast. Cold vegetables and mash, two slices of beef which were very fatty and not much gravy. Menue made it sound like it came with a gravy boat but ours... More

We went for our Christmas Day meal as a family, when we arrived no one seemed to be running the show which continued for the rest of the visit - organised chaos is best to describe it. Between the five of us we all had different menu options none of which were thrilling, not one family member really enjoyed any... More

Went in the week between Christmas and New Year for a beer and bite to eat. Place was surprisingly busy and by the time we got served the kitchen was about to close but they kindly agreed to take our order (table of 3). Seemed to be a bit short staffed on the day, only one guy on the bar... More

We went on a Sunday evening where the last available time was 6.30 a couple of us had a duck starter which was tasteless and fatty though the red cabbage accompaniment was good. We then mainly had the roasts which were average following which we asked for the sweet menu only to be told the kitchen was closed. I would... More

And to be fair it was the Dickensian weekend, and I will try it again as the staff are good but can only be as good as the kitchen allows, some meals in our group had very good food and some not so good, the Pea & Ham soup at £4.50 was poor with hard peas and no Ham, the... More

High quality Sunday lunch and friendly staff. Good beef, excellent veg and well presented in nice surroundings. Not sure If it was a special offer but only cost £6.95 each, absolute bargain.

Apparantly we missed the most interesting aspects of the building by not exploring up and up and up or out the back or something. However the mill wheel held our attention few a minute or three, the staff were friendly and helpful and the beer and food both held our attention for the rest of the visit Reasonable selection of...
