Hidden gem

Wonderful little hidden gem. We had bacon butty, sticky toffee pudding, scone and jam and teas. All delicious. Great value for money and a lovely atmosphere with very friendly staff. Found this place just by accident driving around. Had a lovely ham sandwich - ham was thickly sliced on lovely bread with a nice side salad. They did lovely cakes and deserts and I can vouch for the cheesecake which was truly devine ! Great viewing platform outside for views towards Skiddaw. This place is well worth a visit for... More

Recommended to us by the home owners at our recent house sit, Mae's is a lovely spot. A very welcoming tea room cum gallery in a fine old building with high ceilings, huge windows, and a great feeling of space. Beautiful views. It was a great way to spend an hour on a rainy afternoon. We felt very cosy, eating... More

What a lovely atmosphere tonight. Once again Mae's pulled it off - a coherent and well planned display. Wine and nibbles were welcome and great to meet and chat to the artists. We didn't have time for the preview meal - wish we had!

Recently spent a long weekend working in the beautiful Lake Distract close to The village of Uldale and stumbled over the Tea rooms called Mae's. We both had a fantastic evening meal of Steak & Chips (real thick cut chips) and could not fault it. The staff were all friendly and helpful and there was a great atmosphere in the... More

Love the place, would have been very relaxing, but too many items for sale for my children to play with.

We took our little boy here for afternoon tea one day, after having the place recommended to us and it didn't disappoint. Very friendly staff, food was lovely and some very good art for sale. We will be going back!

Nice evening at Mae's Tea Room with lovely food and nice bottle of wine. I love the ambience in this place and being able to look at the art work and handicrafts of local artists displayed in this lofty space. Another great treat.

We called in for sandwiches at the end of a lovely walk in the area. Such a nice café - great spot with lovely views, very friendly hosts and great food! A very relaxing hour - will be back, I hope!
