We had lovely tea and cakes at this quaint tea room. We had been out walking on new years day the place wasn't even open and they kindly opened up to make us a cup of tea. Thank you we will come again and recommend the cakes, served by Mae.

Stopped off for a drink during a long walk - the hot chocolate with cream and marshmallo was yummy! The roaring log fire a welcomed bonus. Local art/crafts adorn the old school rooms - lovely setting.

We've been meaning to go to Mae's for such a long time and I now wish we'd done it months ago! We only had coffee and cakes but what we had was really good. We'll certainly be going back for lunch as the food looked lovely too. Would definitely recommend Mae's

There are a wide range of options of well cooked food with a home made feel. We just had soup and cake but there were a lot of other options. We were made to feel very welcome. The place has a community feel.there were comfortable places to sit and a roaring fire.

This old school house is now a restaurant/tea room with a gallery (paingings/photos/pottery/wood products/jewellery etc). Open every day for food to 16:30 (hot and cold food) and Friday and Saturday evenings. Had several tea and bun sessiosn there along with one evening meal. The latter was brilliant, very good value and all freshly cooked, largely locally produced, food. Service was... More

Had dinner on Saturday which was excellent. Heartily recommend this place for food, friendliness and atmosphere. The quality of the food and value for money was really good and we had a jolly, enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend this as a destination location.

We held computer training classes in the separate room as part of the Northern Fells Group helping people become confident in using computers. The owner is really nice and nothing is to much trouble. The teas and cakes are excellent as is the venue. Thanks again Mark and your staff for making us so welcome.

Found Mae's on trip advisor. Didn't realise it was quite so close til we drove past on our way to Haystacks walk. As no time to stop we went back the following day. It was lovely! The service was very warm and welcoming. We had cream tea (Devonshire tea as we know it) and a sponge like cake that was... More

Visited Maes today with our 7 month old son. They were very accommodating to us and our little one. We had coffees, a scone and a slice of almond and cherry cake, all were very nice! My little boy especially liked having a lick of the lovely strawberry jam and made good work on the fresh strawberries that come with... More
