Good food, friendly staff

We were staying at Munchaster Castle Coachmans Quarters on a B&B basis, and they kindly booked us a table at the Pennington which is part of the same group. We also received a 10% discount on food. The staff were friendly and we were able to have our dog with us whilst we ate in the spacious bar... read more

Enter the Pennington via soul-less lobby, no-one about, no clear signage. Sat in bar as restaurant empty, chairs so low we were practically sitting on the floor, moved to another table. My husband ordered a Guinness, but they had run out of Guinness even though they only stock bottled. There was only a choice of two draught beers and the... More

We come and stay at the Hotel and at Muncaster castle a lot and have eaten here in the past. Last night we went for just a meal. The service was defiantly not as good as it has been before, normally the staff are very attentive. There was a very large noisy group of adults in the bar area who... More

We live in Ravenglass and I have to say we're very fond of the Pennington Hotel and their young staff who are absoluetely selfless and so eager to be of service. We had hoped to dine with them in their lovely Estuary Restaurant, but I went down with a very heavy head cold, so we cancelled with very heavy hearts... More

We had booked a table so it was a shame we were not told before we arrived that the restaurant was closed due to the hotel being taken over by a conference of Sellafield staff so we had to eat in the bar. Although this was a small difference it would have been polite for us to have been told,... More

The food is nice here but it's is very expensive for what it is. We stay over here sometimes and the breakfast is fantastic.

We entertained our family and friends at The Pennington Hotel on the night before our daughter's wedding at Muncaster castle. The hotel itself has been superbly refurbished to a very high standard and we were made to feel very welcome. As a large party of 21 we had hoped to book the private function room, but unfortunately this was occupied... More
