Four friends enjoyed dinner last Friday evening. The starter of "Home made duck ham etc." is to die for, one of the best starters I've ever had. Three mains of "slow cooked ox cheeks and grilled tongue" also excellent. The fourth of us had the chicken dish with sweetcorn, also much enjoyed. If being picky, the tongue was a bit... More

2nd visit here. Loved it first time and came back with friends as we had raved about it to them. Disappointed to ask for tomatoes without marinade to go with my steak and be told that's how they come, so I decided against them full stop. Not what I would expect for what we paid for the meal. Shame

A very nice bistro style restaurant ..good food and the pizza had a lovely thin crust . Our friend had 2 starters instead of a main course , so anything goes .parking at the back ..easy.

We have eaten many times at 17 and each time the food has been amazing and device and atmosphere fab but do not know what happened last night. We were shown to our table swiftly after ordering drinks from the bar but it took 20 mins to place our order. We received our starters which were delicious and plates were... More

We have now had several meals at No 17 and the standard of the food is consistently high and truly delicious, however we have been on the receiving end of both excellent and poor table service, mostly the latter. Sadly this was again our experience last night. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table; drinks orders were taken... More

I'm not normally one to gush about the service provided by waiters, but I was pleasantly surprised last night. All the staff were wonderful, but the lady who served us our desserts, with the French Plait in her hair, had the most wonderful table manner. She was friendly, fun, and full of smiles. The service industry could do with more... More

We came for a family dinner on Saturday 15th March, and were absolutely blown away, the starters we had, Carpaccio of Venison, Tempura Prawns, Chick Pea Fritters and Beetroot and Apple salad were all fantastic, the only comment was the beetroot on the venison was overpowering. The main courses of Duck, Venison, Lamb, Rosti and Mac & Cheese were all... More

This was my second trip here and both times I have thoroughly enjoyed the food. Duck was cooked to perfection and was easily the best I have tasted anywhere, puddings are to die for. Prices are fairly high but you get what you pay for. Would recommend booking as it gets full very quickly. Will definitely be returning :)

For 3 years now we have held our Xmas measl in February at No 17. The food is first class. Service very welcoming. We like it as we have a huge table in a separate area so we don't diusturb other guests. I would highly recommend it for Sunday lunch too. Brilliant!!

The food is gorgeous & the service & ambience is as good. I have no regrets in having lunched here. Lots of different dishes on the menu to suit everyone's taste. My friend took her family, on my recommendation, to celebrate her husband's 50th birthday & was so pleased that she keeps returning. You will not be disappointed.
