Stayed in the cabin and drank and ate in the pub. The cabin is compact but comfortable enough to stay in. The gas fire heats up very quickly and the shower has a good pressure to it. Lounge is comfortable enough to eat and relax in for a family of 4. The pub has 10 beers on at any time,... More

The pub is in a great location but it is a pity that the food is at best average. We visited early one evening and the pub had a few drinkers rather than diners. The welcome was ok but the bar maid was cleaning the chairs when we arrived and continued to clean around the drinkers. Odd. There was a... More

We walked up to this pub having got off the Ravenglass railway and picked a lovely spot in the garden, where there are climbing frames for kids and plenty of space. It was about 12.30 pm, and at the bar we were told they had run out of eggs so couldn't do us the only vegetarian sandwich option on the... More

DO NOT EAT AT THIS PUB the food is terrible. We were hungry and looking forward to a nice pub tea as camping nearby. The pub looks nice enough and in lovely surroundings but boy the food was awful. I ordered steak and ale pie and chips. Pie dry, no gravy, looked like a school dinner reheated 10 times in... More

We booked a table at this Pub/resaurant last Saturday 27th of September 2014. We were informed by the very nice waitress/manageress that they had no starters on that night due to the number of bookings and had 3 main courses off the menu as well. We ordered and after about 15-20 minutes were served by very polite restaurant staff, however,... More

We happened upon the George IV whilst navigating a somewhat tortuous route over the top of the fells to Ulverston. With two 80+ year- old ladies in the car, The George appeared like a little haven, where we could at least call a halt for a loo & drink stop; however, once we got out of the car, the warmth... We visited and ordered lasagna and chips and steak pie and chips. When it arrived the lasagne was cremated and only had 1 sheet of pasta in it. As I was laughing at my wife's misfortune I tucked the into what looked like a decent steak pie however the pastry was completely raw. Lasagne and pie are not difficult! But... More

The service was lovely and the young girl was polite and lovely but the food well there was plenty of it but my daughter who is 5 pointed and prodded her burnt pizza as she asked "what is that" as it was covered with layers of fries and beans. My partner and eldest son (9) ordered homemade fish cakes which... More
