Good food and friendly place

Decent food ,average prices, very popular. Was fully booked on a Saturday when we tried to go, having been on the previous Thursday. Comfortable and clean place.

I left a posting last year which was generally positive. We were again on holiday near Broughton in Furness and decided to go back. Things have changed. Firstly, new carpets and seating have changed the feel of the place in a positive way. However, the quality of the food has moved up a notch or two. I'm not sure whether... More

The Black Cock is very old and traditional pub that serves great food in a good atmosphere. Perfect for walkers after a day out ,a family or couple.A good choice of beer and fresh loclly sourced food.

Nice home cooked food in the busy Village of Broughton. Run by a young couple, fresh food. I enjoyed the steak. This pub is always busy and occasionally has live music after dinner service. Tourists and locals mix happily here.

The Black Cock Inn has to be the best pub in Broughton in Furness. We went twice during our week's stay in the area. The place is very comfortable and customer and dog friendly. The food was excellent and the service was very efficient and friendly. There is a blazing log fire which makes a really good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Although there was a 'local's' atmosphere, this was let down by the standard of the food. The staff seemed rushed and slow in attending to us. It was a very cold night, and the large fireplace only had one and a half logs barely manage to burn in it. The fire eventually went out. Apparently, they had run out of... More

Good choice, as it was Sunday there were 4 roasts. The meat comes from the butcher across the road and seems to be locally sourced. Both the steak and gammon were very good the prawns with the steak had an interesting sauce, generous chips and salad. The homemade sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Prices were reasonable and they were in... More

Had our first meal here on Saturday night and were so pleased with the quality of the food we revisited every night of our four night holiday! Massive portions, beautifully presented and fantastic service. Hoping to go back and stay at the b&b ... we loved it that much!
