Good choice, as it was Sunday there were 4 roasts. The meat comes from the butcher across the road and seems to be locally sourced. Both the steak and gammon were very good the prawns with the steak had an interesting sauce, generous chips and salad. The homemade sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Prices were reasonable and they were in... More

Had our first meal here on Saturday night and were so pleased with the quality of the food we revisited every night of our four night holiday! Massive portions, beautifully presented and fantastic service. Hoping to go back and stay at the b&b ... we loved it that much!

Great place, decent beers. Punches well above its weight for food. Booking ahead is a good idea but if you can't get a table the Kings Head is just over the road.

Nice pub with good food for a decent price. Good value. Best to book a table in advance as it can get busy sometimes.

Very nice pub in a Lake District town, log fire burning in the corner, varied menu with vegetarian menu too, must try the upside down steak pie, lovely. Service good also.

Dined here last Saturday evening during the beer & bangers festival so pub was very busy. Despite this our food was served very promptly & was lovely. Very reasonably priced & all locally sourced. Décor is a little old fashioned but clean & well kept.

7 of us went for Sunday lunch during the Beer 'n' Bangers festival. There was an a la carte option, but most of us opted for one or other of the Sunday roasts. These came in huge portions, well presented and cooked to perfection: in particular, the meat was sliced very thick which meant it retained its juices but was... More
