For a mid day bar meal it was very very good and imaginative food. The seafood risotto was brilliant, great content and flavours, even the chips on my wife's meal were some of the best ever. For desert the creme brulee was serious!

Booked for Sunday dinner. All had a roast. Was very tasty & great selection of veg. Nice relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Best to book as people were being turned away. Would go back again.

Fabulous pub with good beer selection and great menu. The cassoulet (on the menu as the Full Monty) was so delicious I went back another day and had it again. Gets very busy so best to book in advance but does take aways on the full menu. Staff very friendly and efficient. Seats out front and in the beer garden... More

Excellent choice of food from both menu and extensive specials board. It was also well presented and very tasty. The service was quite slow but the restaurant was busy. We would go again.

We visited this pub twice in one week. Why? Because once wasn't enough. The first visit I had an absolutely gorgeous beef casserole. I have actually never had a casserole with such large pieces of beef in. It was rich, slow cooked and melted in the mouth. My partner had a Pasta Arrabattia with chicken and bacon, again absolutely beautiful.... More

Had a wonderful meal at the Back Cock last Monday night. For a Monday night the place was pretty busy. I has the Prawn starter and Sirloin steak. Bothy were prepared and presented very well and tasted fabulous. There's a good varied menu and the prices arent half bad. They even sell Lancaster real ale too. Definitely worth a visit.

We visited this pub with some friends this was pre booked on a recommendation from my mother in law who lives in nearby Millom. When we arrived our table was already set for the eight of us. Most of us chose from the bargain 3 courses for £13 which had 3 starters 5 Sunday roast meats to choose from and... More

If your in the lakes you must go and eat at this great little pub. The food is excellent and made fresh as you order. I had a prawn cocktail to die for and my husband had green lipped mussels served with fresh backed roll. We then had cabanora real home cooked ham. The little beer garden is a real... More

A varied menu with some interesting choices, served with individuality. The beer selection and quality was not as good as the food.

I visited the Black Cock with the family looking forward to having Gammon and Chips, which unfortunately had the skin on. As my daughter in law is allergic to potato skins we were disappointed and had to find another restaurant where they peeled the potatoes.
