Warm welcome

Called in after driving the hardknott pass. Just called in for a coffee but decided to have lunch. This was excellent and the young barman was very friendly and took time to give a bit of history about the pub and the area. Definitely a place we would visit again.

Been many times since the 1940s! It has changed a little over the years, but the quality of the meals now makes it one of the very best pubs in the area. Children are warmly welcomed, but are generally well behaved and respectful of the tradition. On any visit to the Lakes make sure the Newfield is visited.

The Newfield Inn is actually by Seathwaite in the Duddon Valley near Ulpha and about 6 miles from Broughton. It's a proper old pub selling reasonably priced, well kept real ale and serving decent pub food, no TV, music or wifi. A great place to relax and recharge the batteries after a walk on the fells and less than a... More

Excellent pub set in the heart of the Furness Fells, in beautiful Dunnerdale at Seathwaite. Sold a range of beers and a wide range of pub food of GENEROUS proportions using locally sourced meat. The steak pie was the best ever and the cumberland sausage delicious. A large field out the back catered for children. Dogs were welcome. A great... More

Just crossing Hardknott Pass, we was almost in paradise. ...than around 8:45pm we had a feeling to loose our dinner. chance, when we've encountered surprisly this nice pub. Even if it was written that kitchen close at 9:00 pm, the owner gave us a really warm welcome offering choiches of gorgeous meals. So, whole family enjoied the meal and wonderful... More

We found this pub just having a drive out after staying in newby bridge. What a lovely little place, friendly bar staff & fab menu. We didn't stay for lunch but I'm hoping to return to sample it. Very out of the way but worth a visit

Friendly authentic Lakes pub, with good local beer on draught, a warm fire, and a solid choice of tasty pub grub served piping hot, including a good veggie option. We ate twice here in the evening and would definitely go back again if in the area.

Four of us came for a weekend Friday to Monday, and we heard about the Newfield from friends who live in nearby Millom. The staff were friendly, the pub was warm and cosy, the food was nicely presented and plentiful, but it was the atmosphere that really reminded us of how pubs used to be not so long ago. My... More

Having walked around Seathwaite tarn we thought we'd pop into the Newfield for a swift half before heading back home for dinner, but we were disappointed in the very lack lustre reception that we got when we inquired about which bitters they had. In fact, the gentleman who served us didn't even reply verbally, he just pointed to a notice... More

As a large group (20 or more - half of which are children) we always visit this pub on our annual visit to the Birks. When the sun is out this place has a fantastic outside seating area with a small field for the kids to run around, without disturbing other people. It was, however, awful weather this year! Not...
