we stopped here by off chance on the way back to our holiday rental near Ulpha we pulled in as we were hungry and I must say the service was excellent extremely polite and friendly, we had steak and it was cooked to perfection and served very nicely. Our only moan is please have a separate area for families with... More

We have just returned from a week here in their flat the food was great but what really stands out is their customer care I was not well and they offered to cook anything I wanted and because I could not eat any of their deserts they gave us some of their famous pear and chocolate crumble frozen to take... Returned for another visit to the Newfield Inn and again the whole family (from grandparents to children) were served a tasty and enjoyable meal. This is a great pub, hidden away in the most wonderful part of the country. But I'm biased as I was brought up in the area and have spent many happy days in the Duddon Valley.

Set in a really beautiful part of the country, this inn is not for those who need pine tables, black chairs and pretend log fires with dainty dining! This is a real pub with real atmosphere and friendly staff and customers. The food is tasty and varied. It is an ideal stop for walkers and adventurers of all kinds.

As we were heading for hardknott pass we came across this pub. We had a nice break. Lunch was simple but satisfying. We found the gentleman behind the bar very friendly and helpful. Would visit again if in the area.

We hadn't been here for years but were delighted to find the Newfield unchanged and as lovely as ever. A very welcoming traditional pub and the coffee was so good that I had a second cup - almost unheard of. The log stove was great and the magnificent slate floors alone are worth a journey! We didn't eat here on... More

Went here for a meal. Only ones in the place. Well received by the landlady. Friendly and warm. Food was okay nothing to shout about but just what was needed. They had the log fire on which was nice. Food a little on the expensive side for what was on offer, but I suppose when you aren't that busy you... More

First visit here for over 20 years. We went as a group of 4. The drinks were very reasonably priced. We ate in the dining room. I would go in here for a quieter meal, but you can also eat in the bar. Salt & Pepper squid was very good starter as was the Whitebait,Garlic musrooms and soup. The small... More
