My second review, this time i went in the evening with friends. We were all happy with our starters, my duck breast starter was a bit tasteless. My husband ordered his fillet steak "blue" but it came medium rare, and he only had a handfull of chips that were bordering on being over fryed, more chips would have been appreciated.... More

Me and a friend tried their breakfast, { we like going to different places and comparing the breakfasts} this was the best so far, the sausages were from a butchers and not catering ones, every thing was very tastey, and you get an extra round of toast with jam as well, the waiter was very friendly as well, will be... Very good food freshly prepared in a family run restaurant. Staff are very informed about the menu and the food is excellent in quality, good portions and very good value for money

Good quality, well cooked food and well presented. A step up from the ususal pub food but reasonably priced and good value for money. The venue is particularly attractive with plenty of elbow room at and between tables. Good service too

Excellent food served in beautiful surroundings overlooking a picturesque canal. Bottled beer and fine wines.

Went in one lunchtime after a stroll down the canal. Nice atmosphere upstairs, however the food was disappointing. I ordered the steak pie and my girlfriend had the soup and toasted sandwich. The food arrived after about an hour - this seemed quite a wait considering there was only one other couple in who were already eating. The steak pie... More

I'm sorry that you had a disappointing visit to the restaurant. I'm not sure exactly when you visited but very often throughout some of the busier times we can have a lot of people sitting outside eating food but very few indoors which can then seem as though the wait for food is longer than it should be. It seems... More

We had a wonderful meal at lock 57 on Friday having previously had an equally good time in May, we had just a very pleasant and relaxing holiday on the Trent Mersey canal and decided to eat out on our last night. The food was excellent, especially the lamb pie and sticky toffee pudding. The price was exceptionally reasonable and Lock... More

We had to be in the area early so decided to treat ourselves to breakfast at Lock 57. There's not a great deal of choice on the breakfast menu ( I would have liked eggs Benedict!) so we plumped for the full English which came with lots of toast and tea or coffee for £5.95. Everything was freshly cooked using... More

Visited this place for the first time on a friday evening- first impressions are fab as it is right on the canal and its obviously very well maintained. It has a lovely warm atmosphere, decor isnt modern but to be fair that is in keeping with the building. The menu is small but good choices, we had lamb, pie and... More
