My self and my partner went in on a Saturday evening with the plan of having a few drinks sat in the ample size beer garden and outside terrace over looking the canal, thinking from the outside it look a very nice welcoming place and to scout the food menu for a meal on a later date. However after queuing... More

Was shut for a while. We had a late lunch and things seem to be going well for the new young manager. Hope it does well. Making arrangements to bring the walking group once more. Only 2 mins walking from Anderton Boat Lift.

Moored up our canal boat directly outside and had a lovely dinner and drinkies in the garden overlooking the canal. Great little pub to visit - especially in conjunction with a visit to the Anderton Lift opposite.

We were booked for the Anderton lift the following morning so decided on a quick drink inthe pub. They allow dogs in and so it was settled, we enjoyed a good pint and a mix grill to die for. The locals were friendly and we enjoyed an evening of good banter. We will return again.

We enjoyed a lunch following a visit to the adjacent Anderton Boat Lift. The food was good pub food, the range of drinks offered a good choice. We were a little disappointed by the landlords attitude although his staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.

Been going here for years, changed landlords a while back but still a good value pub, always busy, serves good food and more importantly good beer. You won't be disappointed

Popped in here (with the dogs. And kids!) at the weekend for a quick drink on the way home and stayed for an hour. Very welcoming, nice beer and (most importantly!) happy to accommodate the kids (Sunday lunchtime) food simple and good value, kids liked it, fussy parent who misses powdered egg and won't eat "foreign" liked it! Job done!... More

Five of us visited one recent Sunday; two of us had the salmon which was as near a perfect piece of fish I've ever tasted. It was FANTASTIC!! Two had steak and one the roast beef; all three found the meat tough and disappointing. When we told the server about it (in a very un-British way!) her immediate response was... More

we went on Tuesday 1st and ordered 2 specials the lamb and mint pie and the pork belly. The pie was full of gristle and the pork belly was not cooked enough and no crackle!!! We did tell the server that we were not impressed. However the beer yet again was on form and the service fantastic, it will not... More
