Very nice meal, lovely new interior!

We live locally, and several years ago would never eat here, last week we had a lovely meal, well cooked, as we specified e.g. Medium, or well done veal medallions off the specials menu arrived as requested. It's no longer a gamble to choose off the specials menu, and the "normal" menu choices are... read more

Working away,. Comfortable pub, good service, convenient. Exactly what you would expect. Starter and main £12. Good value. Good array of beer and a decnt cider on tap.

Ate here on Valentine's Day but opted for the normal menu which had plenty of choices. We relaxed and took our time with eating and had a sneaky dessert later on. Staff were friendly enough but our table was right near a walk way so had plenty of passing traffic. We were also practically sat on top of the 3... More

We visited last week for an evening meal and drinks after a day out in chester. It's been a while since our last visit and since then the pub has been revamped. It's surprising walking into an old country pub and finding a classy modern interior, but it really works. Our waitress Stacy was exceptional, she recommended several dishes to... More

I've been to the Blue Cap a couple of times both with family and with friends and each time has been as good as the last. On this occasion I went in for some lunch with my partner on Valentines day and although I could tell the staff were under a lot of pressure, the manager (Mimi) managed to keep... More

A lovely upgrading of the decor, and a nice menu, with plenty of choice . The lunch-time offer was very good value, but I was disappointed that pancakes were not on offer. The waiter was very pleasant and friendly and the food was tasty. However, the wait for the food was too long, for the first course and between courses... More

I have been several times to the blue cap, staff are really friendly, the food is ok. Great now there's more seating if you just want to go for a drink. Great local pub for us walking distance.

The upgrade to the decor was well done. Although it wasn't a complete makeover. The walls had been decorated which were lighter and fresher and generally more modern. But the dark wood and beams still remained which didn't cater for a total transformation. Whitewashing the wood although may have been a bit radical would have created that feeling of a... More

Staying next door at Premier Inn. Realised it was Valentine's Night and thought better book a table. Did so and ordered the Valentines meal at £25 each which on the face of it seemed good value. 4 courses and a glass of Prosecco wine. The service was good, while not over quick we were in no great rush. The food... More

Booked the Bluecap for my birthday 9 adults and a 2 year old. I felt I asked for more that what was offered by the waiter including cutlery, more drinks and finally walking to the bar to ask for the bill. Hospitality training needed as I won't be coming back until things improve dramatically.
