The Woodpecker is part of the Brewers Fayre organisation. The food, although a limited menu, is always well cooked and you actually get a steak cooked exactly how you order it. The range of sweets is very good and there is something to tempt anyone. The food is always presented well and the the staff are courteous, helpful and attentive... More

I dine in lots of pubs and restaurants in and around the North west and have never been disappointed with the food that I have been served here .You get great value for your money . In some places the" cheaper " meal can often be a smaller portion but this is not the case here. The menu has lots... More

Popped in last week, to meet friends and have a bite to eat. The food was average, especially for the price. It’s seemed to have the appearance of simply being microwave’d, rather than cooked – I don’t know whether that was the case. Some of our party ordered peppercorn sauces with their steaks, which were brought out *after* they finished... More

We ate our evening meal and breakfast here as we were staying at the adjoining premier inn, we were a little apprehensive as we have eaten at a brewers fayre locally and didn't like it at all. However our food turned up in a reasonable time, was very tasty. The staff were all polite aswell. Breakfast was also good, great... More

So, having booked your table, you arrive and wait to be seated. Two pig ignorant regulars barge past you and are immediately seated by the waitress, who completely ignores your party of seven, and treats the regulars as royalty. Harry Potters invisibility cloak could not have covered us all up! When challenged, the waitress avoids eye contact, and continues to... More

We quite often eat here, as it is a convenient meeting place. The food is good basic pub grub, what you expect of a chain pub, but they are willing to make modifications for those fussy eaters out there! We generally haven't had any issues with the place, would recommend.

Terrible trouble redeeming bonus points. If it's a problem with website they're in no hurry fixing it as this has been happening for some considerable time. Why? should be recorded on card itself. Pity, because staff are great and food good. If this carries on with points it'll start putting people off-the'll go elsewhere.

Doesn't set a good first impression when a member of staff is stood out of the front of the pub swearing on the phone to her friend. Never seen this blond girl before but she seemed to hold some kind of a grudge against me as she gave me evils as I walked past her with my two young children.... More

Went with some friends on Bank Holiday Monday after a day out - we just wanted a bit of a snack really not a full meal - our friends had been before, but me & my husband hadnt. I must admit when we pulled up, my first impressions were not great - it looked a bit grotty from the outside... More
