After spending a number of years eating at the Thatch, on average, weekly, our visit today and last weekend was very disappointing. We have never had a bad meal before these last 2 visits. Whilst I don't have a problem with the new owners cutting down the menu, many of the most popular items have disappeared. The soup has always... More

Visited with friends on way to concert at Gawsworth. As one of our friends has an allergy I rang to make sure he would be catered for. Staff could not have been more helpful. Very cosy pub, table nicely set and large menu to suit everybody. Service excellent. Will certainly be back.t

We hadn't seen each other in a while and met at The Thatch for a meal. We chatted on for hours and were still made welcome, no pressure to leave. The food, atmosphere and service were great - nothing was too much trouble. They even provided an actual vegan menu - much better than the usual reading out of choices... More

Visited The Thatch for the first time in about 6 months. We didn't realise that it had changed management before we went. Menu was the same but the atmosphere was definitely lacking. Stick toffee pudding used to be the best ever with a jug of toffee on the side. Today this was very average and the toffee sauce just poured... More

Having been stuck in jams and diversions we were in desperate need of a break and a meal when we came across The Thatch. Intending having just a snack and getting on our way we ended up pleasantly surprised by the choice and standard of food. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. What had been a stressful and tiring... More

The two of us from Cheltenham and our two friends from Fife had an excellent lunch yesterday. The setting is beautiful, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was excellent. We were even welcomed by one of the owners, Claire, who also checked several times during our meal that we were being attended to by the staff. This... More

A pleasant venue let down by detail. The youngsters serving us had not been properly trained placing food on the table and the correct side to do it from. They rushed and in one instance spilt the soup and did not notice it. Having said that it was a great evening for the four of us and will be going... More

If you wish to go purely for overpriced and very average pub food, in an area with fantastic quality restaurants and pubs, and frankly far better in terms of value and quality in the close locality, then please visit! If you want to go for a drink in a really pretty, quaint, local village pub, don't bother. The pub has... More

We had been going to the Thatch for a number of years but only visit once a year and had not been there in a while. We stopped for a late lunch and what a great meal we had, the food was inventive perfectly prepared and served piping hot even though we were outside, the gardens there are beautifully kept... More

What a beautiful 15th century pub . But we're even more impressed with the fabulous well presented food. The staff were all lovely and very friendly . There is a lovely outdoor garden where we had a drink after our meal .Dont miss out on this lovely place
