We were calling in to book a table as we had visited a couple of years previously just after their big refurb. When we had probably one of the best meals we had ever had, with amazing service. Sadly the menu did nothing for us. Expensive and not at all what we were looking for. We therefore went over the... More

They service the best food in Chester. Plates so full you can hardly eat it all. Chef deserves a gold medal

Met for dinner with friends. It was a quiet Wednesday evening. The food and beer were good. Great views of the canal and the bridge lifting and lowering kept the little one busy.

Right next to the canal this pub/restaurant has an excellent choice of beers, a varied menu at reasonable prices, and free wifi. Especially good for boaters on the Llangollen Canal, there are plenty of mooring points nearby. It has a pleasant garden and nice atmosphere inside. Staff are friendly and helpful. Came back on our return canal trip because we... More

We arrived at the bar & asked if they had a table & were promply seated. Our drinks arrived swiftly. I dont know what it is about the place but it has no atmosphere, it feels soul less. Theres lots of parafanalia about but not alot of canalia ware. Bearing in mind its next to the canal & called the... More

For a place so well located and having had a refit a few years ago, this pub should deliver first class food. The problem has been the menu and the limitations of the kitchen. I was pleased to see that the former has been given some attention, but it still needs to provide a more consistent quality. The outside seating... More

Location is everything at this place as stunningly located by unique canal bridge and overlooking the water. Well worth a trip out. Menu ok not the cheapest but food good. Service attentive and swift. Would go again and on a nice day would be hard to find a nicer place to have a drink and a meal outside on the... More

Visited on the recommendation of a friend. Attractive canalside setting with outdoor tables, suitable for a pleasant summer evening with the family. Although we called to book only an hour or so earlier, upon arrival, polite young lady could not find our reservation....In any event, as requested, we were seated outside and enjoyed a quick sundowner before ordering our meals....
