I booked on the internet to take my friend for afternoon tea for her birthday. I put on the request that it was her birthday and that our dietary requirements were "no fish". We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by someone who asked why we were there. I told him, he asked us to go to Reception. In... More

We'd heard a lot about the Rookery and, as we were in the area decided to stop off for a sandwich. There's obviously some remodelling going on, but there was quite a trek around the back of the various mismatched buildings from the car park to the eating area. We had sandwiches on the terrace - perfectly adequate but not... More

Visited Rookery Hall for afternoon tea as a birthday treat. From arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming and our waitresses were lovely. The grounds of the hotel are gorgeous, and we enjoyed spending some time in them. Afternoon tea was lovely, and the "Happy Birthday" on the plate of mini cakes was a lovely touch. As so local not... We were staying as hotel guests for dinner bed and breakfast, so popped along for dinner. The dining room is dark and wood panelled. It is quite atmospheric and there is minimal lighting but tea lights on every table. We were welcomed kindly, and shown to our table. Must admit there was nothing particularly wrong with the meal or service,... More

Went for a celebratory meal, but although the food was good overall, it was let down by the service. Too many staff not really knowing what they should be doing and none really looking to catch the eye of diners looking for attention. There is a disconnect between the pricing of the food and wine (high) and the quality of... More

Went here for Sunday lunch recently with family for a belated Mothers Day treat. Unfortunately the service let it down but the food we all had was lovely. Firstly we ordered drinks at our table, the wine arrived but my husbands beer did not and we had to ask for it. My prawn cocktail came without the bread and butter... More

I went to Rookery Hall for Afternoon Tea as a birthday present to my friend. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Everyone seems to be jumping on the Afternoon Tea experience and Rookery Hall is probably a couple of pounds more expensive than anywhere else; but for the money you get experienced & attentive staff, an excellent selection of sandwiches, scone... Met some friends for Sunday lunch, midway location! From the point of trying order drinks at the bar to trying to get a coffee after lunch, the service was appalling! Most of the staff were either badly trained or had never received any professional training. To many points to itemise. However the food was very good!! Would try it again... More

The hotel and spa was very nice. But the restaurant was not!! Ordered food over cooked and service was not up to standard. How a five star restaurant can serve dry food and a customer sit with a empty glass for 45 mins is beyond me.
