Afternoon Tea - Elegant and Refined (with a slight hiccup!)

A friend bought an Afternoon Tea experience at Rookery Hall for my husband and I. On arrival we were shown to our table in the beautiful restaurant. This was set with a selection of quaint china crockery which was perfect for the occasion. We were given a glass of sparkling wine and then told that... read more

we visited yesterday for afternoon tea, place is very nice. Was shown into room and felt uncomfortable as very quiet and numerous whispered conversations going on, would recommend some nice background music. My partner and were practically signing to each other, we waited about 10 mins for tea and then food arrived about 10 mins later. Lady waiting on was... More

I took my friend here for afternoon tea which was excellent. Good service, lovely home made cakes, beautiful setting. Couldn't fault anything and we were made ever so welcome. £35 for two (extra for champagne) but well worth the money. Highly recommended

There are two dining rooms at Rookery Hall (that I saw, it's a big place, there may be more!). We were shown to the smaller and more elegant of the two. We were staying at the hotel and had an inclusive package (table d'hote menu) but were told we could choose from the Ala Carte if we wished, or mix... More

After a wonderful visit to RH last year with my husband I decided to take some friends there for afternoon tea with the prospect of booking a stay later on in the year. The website offered a 5pm booking which was fantastic as it suited us all as we had to travel from different directions and considerable distances to reach... More

Ridiculously overpriced menu for the worst possible service and food. Waited in the reception for what seemed like hours before being seated ... Table was falling apart and chair was rocking and ready to give - had to ask THREE times before being moved to another table where we were served bread that was stale and rubber like in texture... We had a super Sunday lunch at Rookery Hall restaurant. Set in a plush room with bags of features and a great view across the garden and wider grounds, the service was attentive and efficient and the food was outstanding. I would argue that the drinks are overly expensive but I found the quality of food and portion size good... More

We visited on Wed 21 st Jan. We have eaten at Rookery Hall for nearly 15 yrs, mostly on significant' occasions. The 21st was such an occasion and whilst the food was excellent, the rest was only OK ish. We ate in the delightful panelled dining room, which was a relief, because there was a very big loud and noisy... More

Lovely 'ye old worlde' setting. The food was average. The big open fire had gone out and the room was bitterly drafty and cold. We had to eat and drink with jackets and scarves on . I mentioned how cold we were to three different members of staff before, during and after but no one was interested. The coldness ruined... More
