More than ''The Bear Necessities''

We had lunch here on Thursday 12th of March and found it most enjoyable. The seating area in both bar and restaurant is spacious and the overall décor is one of cosiness and comfort. The waitress service was very good and the meal was excellent and good value. There is a main menu, a chef's choice... read more

Dropped in by chance . My kids were driving me insane as they were staving needed to get food in them in a hurry . Used trip advisor to find a close Sunday roast Nothing to write home about , nothing to get offended about . The staff were lovely / friendly / helpful . The meal was what you... More

4 of us had our Girls Lunch at this charming pub/restaurant. The welcome was very friendly, the service excellent. The food was very good indeed, satisfying the vegetarian, the fish fancier and two who love chicken dishes. The desserts were yummy and the coffee very tasty. The cost of the meals were very reasonable. We will certainly return.

First time at the black bear.... And all in all I found it to be a bit of a disappointment.... Just want to point out before I start that I couldn't fault the service. We ordered drinks and they came promptly. The carvery is where my disappointment spurred from. We were greeted by a pleasant young fella who was polite,... More

For the past 6 months since moving to this area the Black Bear has been our 'local' . We have been delighted with the consistent good service and well cooked and presented meals .There is a regular menu which is more than adequate to suit most tastes and also 'chefs specials ' which provide an even better choice .

Returned to the Black Bear after previous slating the cuisine on a previous visit. We had a party of 14 this time and pre booked the menu. Everybody enjoyed their fantastic meals, everything was piping hot and the sweets were just delicious, and served on time. The waitress was very efficient, pleasant and was always on hand to assist. Will... More

The waitress was friendly & helpful & the restaurant was newly decorated. Kids meals were served first.... More

As a regular visitor very disappointed with an evening meal, chips were burnt, fried egg with gammon was frazzled on the bottom and edges were crispy, apple crumble with ice cream, the topping of the crumble can only be described as oatmeal flakes on top of apples. Complained and was offered a free drink. I understand that they have a new... More

I visited the Black Bear with my family as had driven past it several times so this time thought I would give it a try. Their Sunday Lunch is mainly a carvery but with a good choice of meats and vegetables it is a very good place to eat. The staff were very friendly, going about their work without fuss... More
