As a regular visitor very disappointed with an evening meal, chips were burnt, fried egg with gammon was frazzled on the bottom and edges were crispy, apple crumble with ice cream, the topping of the crumble can only be described as oatmeal flakes on top of apples. Complained and was offered a free drink. I understand that they have a new... More

I visited the Black Bear with my family as had driven past it several times so this time thought I would give it a try. Their Sunday Lunch is mainly a carvery but with a good choice of meats and vegetables it is a very good place to eat. The staff were very friendly, going about their work without fuss... More

Food is good, standard pub fare. Always friendly and welcoming and happy to accommodate you at late seating. This is our local and my one request is that they get a decent wine menu...landlord did get some small bottles in for wider selection but no sauvignon blanc!!!!!

We turned up without a booking and just as service was finishing on the off chance. Despite they had started closing they were very accommodating especially to my Mum who is currently in a wheelchair. The premises are wheel chair friendly by the way. The carvery was excellent, good choice of very fresh veg and all well cooked, and they... More

The dining area is clean and attractively set out. The food is mediocre and I had to send my pie back because the crust was all burnt.

I am a vegetarian and had prebooked a broccoli bake, the plate i was given was full of a cheese type sauce with hardly any boccoli but loads of sliced potatoe very strange. I was asked by the so called chef if i wanted a yorkshire pudding , he then proceeded to pick one up with the fork that was... More

Although we're used to more modern restaurants this was the family birthday girls choice of Sunday Lunch venue, our 1st visite personally and we were really surprised @ the quality of the food. Excellent carvery, choice of 3 meats, proper gravy using the meat juices, all the veg u would expect this time of year and fab roast potatoes. The... More

The prices were higher than I would have liked to have paid for the standard of food received. I ordered my steak medium rare and I got well done, my own fault really maybe if I had ordered it rare it may have come out the way I liked it. However the service was good and my partner was very...
