Had heard good things about this place and indeed had tried it before when it was The Bell (Long Dog? Nah sorry it's always going to be The Bell - just pretentious renaming it because you have a pet!) Having arrived we had to wait 10 mins to get a drink, one member of staff and 6 customers in the... Booked a table here for Sunday lunch after visiting Waddesdon Manor and weren't dissapointed. Pub was quite quiet, perhaps everyone was away as it was the first weekend of the school holidays so the attentive staff said we could sit anywhere. Our waiter & waitress both appologized for the lack of chicken on the menu which they explained was due... More

Went here for a weekday lunch, the food was of a good standard and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Been a few times on the way home from work for a quick drink and they have an excellent selection of wine. This is a beautiful place for a drink and the food is of a good standard. Will... More

Had a lovely Saturday lunch with a friend. I had a beef burger and friend had the pulled pork burger - both excellent! Service was great, it got momentarily busy with a wedding party from the neighbouring church but all in all - a lovely pub!!

Good ambience, great food, tasty beer...been done-up over the last couple of years. Run by a young man with ideas, making it his own. A good job I'd say :~}

A lovely place for lunch the food menu was nicely balanced with some great choices, cooked to perfection fish in batter to die for, perfect blue rib eye, with fab friendly service. Every thing had that home made good produce feel, every meal that came out looked scrummy and every plate that went back was clean...it's a bit of a... More

We have driven past this pub many times and finally decided to have lunch there as it looks so inviting. Although the service was very good, the table we were given was in bad need of cleaning and the seat cushions were filthy. The menu was quite good and the food portions were generous, but we all thought the quality... More

This country pub on the main road at the northern end of the village was a great spot for lunch. Welcoming staff gave me a shot glass sample of what looked like an interesting draft beer before I bought the full pint, which was a nice touch. The lunch menu was fairly extensive with some specials on the blackboard. The... More

According to locals a popular place, but was rather dead on a rainy Monday night. Cozy British pub athmosphere. Food was OK, nothing spectacular although the asparagus with blood pudding and duck egg was great. Relatiely unexpensive.

I have dined at the long dog with friends a few times and I must say I find the menu limited, always the same and somewhat over priced. I think 6-7 pounds for a starter and 6 pounds for a desert is just too much. I ate in there recently and it was 15 pounds for fish and chips and... More
