What a superb evening

Been meaning to write this review for a while...so at long last here it is. Have eaten at cape since it was a tiny cake, breakfast place long before its expansion. So have seen it grow and flourish. This is a very elegant restaurant and service is very personable. The food was very good, I had lamb samosas and my partner had chicken liver parfait we both had the delicious meats from the braii. We even came away with delightful baked bread. Love this place.

The Cape is in Beaconsfield new town close to the railway station. It is a mature restaurant serving daytime food and drink and evening dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu is a mix of European courses eg steak, sea bass, beef and strong South African courses including ostrich, springbok ,bobotie and kingklip (local fish). Naturally the wine list includes Stellenbosch!!... More

I have been here a few times to meet friends and am always impressed by its relaxed easy charm and first rate food and drink. It may be small and unpretentious, but the staff are cordial and the coffee is exceptional. Great venue to meet friends... and very close to the railway station!

I have visited for both dinner (at the weekends) and breakfasts, and love it here. It can be very busy on weekends for brunch, but the service is still good and food always of great quality. My only complaint is that it is not open for dinner on weekdays!

If you haven't yet been here for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you really must. As a family run restaurant, it doesn't display the military perfection that we have come to expect from chain restaurants/coffee shops in the area, but it is filled with the charm and imperfection of a restaurant run by vivacious and charismatic "amateurs". The menu is an... More

Went here as found it via Trip Advisor, extremely good food with a lovely atmosphere and quirky furniture. Love the chairs, the decor and the wall art! I had poached eggs and smoked salmon which was perfect! Will definitely be back again for lunch & dinner some time soon Great service too!

This restaurant never ever fails. The chef is extraordinary and the staff just lovely. Lunch is so on curve I have tried the whole menu and cant wait to go back and start from the beginning again. Never have salads in particular been so amazing even in over priced restaurants anywhere in the world.

Decent enough Sunday lunchtime snack and child's meal. Friendly waitresses. Let down by odd policies that the owner seems to have imposed such as: no customer WiFi, no gratuities on card, no splitting bill for large parties (although this latter didn't affect us it has affected friends). Also toilet seat loose which made a bathroom trip more interesting than it... More

Nice menu, unusual choices, very authentic. Lovely service from female waitresses. Slightly annoying guy who got out his drill to try and fix some flickering lights! Not appropriate in the evening during dinner service! Nice food though, would return.
