There are those, (myself included) who like to know what is going to happen to them and in general, what to expect when eating out. If you went here thirty years ago, it's unlikely to be a busting amount different today. As with previous reviewers, you either love this, and that is why you go, or you expect some change... More

First visited Guido's 40 years ago and being go there ever since. A real Italian family restaurant who look after their guests like we're part of their family but always with passion. The food is always fantastic and the portions are generous. Whether it's to celebrate or just a romantic night out, Guido's is the place to go.

When we "old timers" fade away then so will this restaurant. It's not looking at the competition and from my visits here not too many 'youngsters' seem to frequent the place. The menu here hasn't changed in over 20 years, but the prices have. Nearly £30 for a steak with vegetables (which are always extra) is a tad on the... More

The best part, although can't fault any of it ! is the food, Dover sole's are amazing as are the traditional Italian dishes. Plenty of fresh vegetables or salad can be ordered separately . A desert trolley to die for , such choice . Its very relaxing and a nice place to dine if you like tablecloths and linen napkins....... More

This is like being back in the 1980s but in a good way. Attentive service and wonderful food. There is a lounge in which to sit, enjoy a drink and peruse the menu. Your order is taken while you are still relaxing over your drink and you are invited to take your table about 15mins down the line. The waiter... More

There appears to be new carpeting throughout, and the whole décor is clean and fresh. Old English beamed ceiling in restaurant, and no music.Only the Italians know how to serve a pre meal Campari soda, and mine was no exception. Set me up for the day! There appears to be an established clientele (local?). There is good class table linen/cutlery.... More

This is a nice restaurant and still one of the best in Amersham, The service is good and traditional although the waiters don't always listen such us covering their excellent roast duck with the sauce when asked not to do so. The gambas were excellent though and this is one of the only places that offer them. The desserts were... More

Guido's is a strange place - it's like stepping back in time. The decor is pink carpets and table linen, old brown furniture and flowery curtains. But the service is also old-fashioned: very attentive, taking coats to the cloakroom, serving drinks at the bar while you browse the menu. It's also very expensive, so we only go for special occasions,... More

Went for a friends 60th birthday We had a whole room to ourselves. The service was old school and properly served. The food was hot and portions big. Nothing was to much trouble. Fantastic night. I understand they do a Sunday lunch that is good too.

We used to use this restaurant on special occasions because it is very expensive for what you get. From the nibbles in the bar (which could be so much better quality, include nuts and even be topped up when the tiny bowl is emptied!) to the main menu of which we all have our favourites, I would now say this...
