Guido's is a strange place - it's like stepping back in time. The decor is pink carpets and table linen, old brown furniture and flowery curtains. But the service is also old-fashioned: very attentive, taking coats to the cloakroom, serving drinks at the bar while you browse the menu. It's also very expensive, so we only go for special occasions,... More

Went for a friends 60th birthday We had a whole room to ourselves. The service was old school and properly served. The food was hot and portions big. Nothing was to much trouble. Fantastic night. I understand they do a Sunday lunch that is good too.

We used to use this restaurant on special occasions because it is very expensive for what you get. From the nibbles in the bar (which could be so much better quality, include nuts and even be topped up when the tiny bowl is emptied!) to the main menu of which we all have our favourites, I would now say this... Had a 90th birthday celebration here on a Sunday lunchtime, had a few drinks in the small bar area before our meal, have to say not a good selection of lagers available but it was ok. Food and service was very good and could not be faulted, restaurant was very busy and best to prebook for meals at weekends, limited... More

We come here for special occasions and always enjoy the excellent service with Italian personality and it's 'old fashioned' feel - like restaurants used to be! The food is always good and particularly the atmosphere for Sunday lunch is perfect if you like a relaxed but 'a bit more formal' ambience. Really good and don't expect fast pizzas - just... More

Excellent service, even better food and can be personalised in the event of a special occasion, and the management are so experienced and accommodating.

I do enjoy going here, it's like a time warp! It is a shame it is so expensive....so it's special occasion only. Bit stuffy & old fashioned really, sorry.

Having been recommended this restaurant by a friend who has been going to Guido's for many years and said it was consistently good food and service, we decided to give it a try. We went early on a Friday evening without booking. It was fairly busy but we were able to get a table for 2 with no problem. The... More

We were a family of four having Sunday lunch to celebrate joint birthdays. We arrived slightly late due to traffic. Even so, we were made immediately welcome and ushered straight to our table, despite 2 large parties waiting to be seated. Coats were taken on arrival and drinks were brought almost immediately. All 3 courses were excellent: mushroom soup was... More

Three of us went to this restaurant for a weekday lunch. It was very busy and we were in a small separate dining room. The service was excellent. Very attentive without being intrusive. My husband and I had pancakes to start and our companion scallops all delicious. We had chicken and two different veal dishes for mains with a selection... More
