Having past the restaurant several times we decided to give Guidos a try - not sure what we were going to experience following the ratings on trip advisor. The restaurant is indeed still in the 70's - the decor definitely needs updating if they want to attract a wider demographic. We were greeted and seated in the lounge to choose... More

My father held his 80th birthday party here, inviting 16 adults and 5 young children, and we were here for Sunday lunch. We had a spacious, private room, well away from the main dining room so the children could "wander" between courses without annoying other diners. The room was beautifully set out and the serving staff could not have been... More

I live near by and have eaten there 4 times in 28 years tried to enjoy but have never had a good meal yet. I worked in Italy for 3 years and this does not come anywhere near to anything I experienced in Italy. Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone!

This restaurant has been around as long as I can remember and the decor never changes so it feels like you're stepping back into the seventies!! But don't be put off the food and service are top drawer. This is one of the few restaurants left that will still cook your steak diana at the table. The menu is incredibly... More

If you find yourself hankering for a TRADITIONAL english meal in a restaurant run by Italians Guido's could be the place for you. An almost theatrical experience with pre-dinner drinks area allowing the waiters to take your orders whilst you quaff G&T in a comfy chair. Choose from olde-worlde classics such as Whitebait, Scallops in Cheese and Wine sauce or... More

Quiet, subdued but excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Very good food, (carrots to die for), excellent Dover Sole off the bone. Seven of us, everyone enjoyed it .

Went there with group for Xmas gathering. All courses good and waiters cheery and efficient. We will return.

We had our club Christmas dinner here again at Guido's .... fabulous food as usual .The starter of crab and prawns with avocado was superb and enough for a main meal, however i waded through the ample turkey with trimmings and also the forest fruit dessert a perfectly wonderful meal . ok the reviews by some say dated decor but... Well past its prime, but I don't think the decor or menu (or staff) have changed in decades. It's obvious that any passion that the culinary staff ever might have had for their jobs is long gone. And, if you're going to try to specialize in traditional dishes, then please execute them well. Use good ingredients and put a little... More

There were several good points about my trip to Guidos, but was expensive for what you get. Ambience: Guidos is tucked away from the 'hustle and bustle' of Amersham on the hill, and so comes with pleasant surroundings, with a forest overlooking the front. Stepping inside, you are transformed into the 70s or 80s, with old world decor and carpets... More
