Description: An award winning dining destination in the centre of beautiful old...
An award winning dining destination in the centre of beautiful old Amersham, the Artichoke restaurant has been tipped for the top by critics, chefs (including Raymond Blanc) and, rather impressively, the Michelin Guide 2011. The traditional setting of Artichoke has been given new life with a slick contemporary country makeover in which comfort and style sit side by side, colours are muted and soothing and the beautiful features of the building are allowed to shine through, a part of the carefully considered dcor. Chef and owner Laurie Gear oversees a refined modern European menu filled with charming additions including not only seasonal ingredients but foraged herbs, berries and flowers too and he and his team can be spotted hard at work in the open kitchen from the Kitchen Dining Room. Other spaces here at Artichoke include the glorious Garden Dining Room, opening out on to the bespoke herb wall and the Wine Room up on the first floor, leading in to the well stocked cellar and just right for sophisticated business dining. The perfect neighbourhood restaurant, Artichoke has certainly put Amersham on the map.

Enjoyable experience

Went here recently and had their tasting menu. Not every course was to my liking but I appreciated how well each course was cooked and wonderfully presented!! Would like to return and try their normal menu.

We are lucky enough to live in an area which has an abundance of great restaurants and had been meaning to visit for a while. Well, we were certainly not disappointed and wished we had visited sooner. We chose the lunch tasting menu and every course was presented beautifully. We loved the way each course was described when served, which... More

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and were running late. When I rang to inform them we were running late, they were absolutely fine with it and super friendly - off to a good start. On arrival, we were greeted by the lovely staff and quickly shown to our table. It was near the kitchen which actually was very... More

We visited The Artichoke for a Birthday meal with family. It was on my list of places to try, as it is local for us and reviews had been good. It did not disappoint, the evening was lovely - the food, wines and service were excellent, we chose the tasting menu and enjoyed all of the courses which were cooked... More

This restaurant has been on my list for a long time but didnt find time to go till now. I now know I have been missing out on a really good place to eat. We had a delicious celebratory dinner at Artichoke. Lots of staff served us through the evening but all were skilled and careful. The tasting menu - although expensive - was a real treat and we enjoyed sharing a wine flight to accompany it. Highly recommended for a special dinner out!
