Excellent Dining Pub

This is an excellent italian pub / restaurant. Its a place we would often go to have Sunday lunch, or a early dinner. They really look after children well here too and there is usually a fire going in the colder months. We've always found the staff friendly and pleasant and the dishes are excellent... read more

We were a large group so we had made an advanced reservation which included each person's choice of starter, main and dessert. Things started to go wrong when some of the eight vegetarians in the group were served cold meats. The staff seemed puzzled and confused at this point which can explained why they asked a vegetarian if he would... More

Ok, where to begin? I've been thinking about this and could write an essay based on last night's unfortunate visit with my family (Edit: I think I have now!) 4 of us arrived around 6.45pm - first time we've been here - and were shown to our table in the sparsely populated restaurant. Perhaps only 3 other tables currently occupied.... More

Whilst the food was generally of good quality the whole dining experience was rather spoiled by the lack of atmosphere.music of some kind would help. I am an Italian food lover and would welcome a larger variety of pasta dishes. In general pleasant enough but a little flair here and there missing.

thank you very much for your comments, it would be good to know what time your visit took place to enable us to pinpoint further the issues you raised. There should have been music as this is something we always have, so not sure what went wrong there and for this we apologise. We are currently making some changes to... More

I've had a fair few pizzas in my time but I would have to say the pizza I had at the plough was my best yet. I added nduja sausage which was beautiful and highly recommended if you like a little bit of spice. Service was friendly, pub/restaurant nice and clean and the kids enjoyed the fact they could see... We visited late on Monday night. After a 14 hour shift, had no desire to cook & since it was 21:35, attempted to find somewhere still open, for a spur of the moment meal out rather than greasy take away! Our first call was to The Plough, and they agreed to wait for us if we could get there in... More

We visited The Plough with friends last weekend. For a Saturday night the restaurant was quiet with little atmosphere. The food was delicious, generous portions served piping hot. The Service was good - new waitress that night did really well despite nerves. I'd love to return when they have an event on for more atmosphere and good food.

Popped in to see some friends and they suggested going to their local pub for a pizza! The pub was very busy as they had a party in so we had to wait a while to order and for the food to arrive. However, it was worth the wait - a wonderful pizza and the children's pizzas were in the... More

thank you for your comments, we always welcome constructive criticism. we wish you had told us about the lamb we would happily have replaced it for something else. I understand the service was a little slow on Sunday, we had a very busy restaurant and unfortunately the bar area where you sat suffered as a consequence. not an excuse and... More
